Wyandot BBQ is ****ing awesome. So underrated.

Maybe just a bad day there, too.... started going to Roscoe's (and went to Arthur Bryant's every once in a while) and never went back.

It's meh chain food. It is really consistent, but it tastes like everything is prepared offsite, and just warmed up.

That's how Rudy's tastes to me.

I was in this dive a few years ago. I wouldn't feed that crap to my dog.

I'm almost certain you mean Bandanas, and they're everywhere because they're decent, reliable and popular. They started out of shut-down Shoney's in Arnold in about 1995, and now stretch from Iowa to Indiana.

They're not on par with a BBQ haven like Joe's KC or Bogart's, but they're 'chain good.' Like a Texas Roadhouse steak. They are really good at keeping their brisket moist, and getting a lot of smoke into their chicken.

Worst I had was Red's in Maryville, IL. Back in the mid-90s I was dating a girl in Edwardsville, and her dad loved their BBQ. But part of that was it was about the only BBQ anywhere in the area at the time. Stringy meat with no evidence of slow smoking, and thin red sauce with no spice.

It's closed now, with plenty of competition [including Bandana's] to take it's place in the mean time.

Yeah, that's sounds familiar.

Any body ever eat at Jethros in Des Moines?

LMAO We stayed right next door to that place when we were in Cody a couple years back. I thought it was ok, but the farther I get from Missouri, the lower my expectations get when it comes to BBQ.

The secret to Bandana's is to limit yourself to two sauces

Sweet and Smoky and Carolina Smokin' Hot.

The rest try too hard and don't get it right. The Texas, KC, Memphis and regular Carolina styles suck. The Sweet and Smoky is more KC style than their KC style ever pretended to be. And the Smokin' Hot is just the right amount of heat, even if it's mustard based, it's mostly Tabasco.

That and their garlic bread is as good as some BBQ place's meat.

I vote Zarda's like the 14th best BBQ restaurant in KC...so, middle tier to just above.

I don't know who she is. After a few years of the pigs I had for avatars I thought I would throw a bone

It's baffling to me that anyone who actually likes BBQ doesn't think LC's is good.
