Should have been cut after week 1 last year. |
Bringing in CB depth is a good idea. More bodies to battle it out for those spots only helps us. It's a weakness, and every team knows it.
Peters and Gaines both pretty much have to stay healthy, from what I've seen, for the pass defense to remain effective. It's not a big change, but anything that increases competition can only help. |
If this one earns Fleming his walking papers count me as thrilled.

Peters and Gaines are the only CB's who have experience, unless you count Cooper who has been trash.
They do like Nelson, but this is his first time playing CB full time, so having an experienced player back there was a need. This team is in win now mode, so this move makes sense. I'm reading on Twitter that Acker did not fit the new staff's scheme. |

That ought to be an indicator of the his competence (or lack thereof). |
Fans shouldnt be that concerned about our CBs. You look at the Carolina Panthers who are touted to be a top 5 defense and their CBs are pretty much like the Chiefs except they have no Marcus Peters.
Our starting trio of Peters, Gaines and Nelson consist clearly of three players on the rise and if Gaines can just come back at the level he was before his injury, I think it can be a solid trio. The depth now with Ackers is inexperienced but decent in my opinion. |

The rookies will just have to learn on the fly, OJT

The main thing I saw today was the bottom of the roster DB's suck. If this moves one of them out then this is a good thing.
