ahh memories :) After having Italian food in Chicago/Rockford, everything here just seems blah. |
The Anthony Joe's Select from Tarantino's Pizza (R.I.P) here in KC. It was better than Giordano's, IMO. It was over by Grand Slam in the River Market around '05-'06 and then moved up by the cop shop near Zoo Bar for a bit before finally closing. I'm pretty sure pizza was their secondary operation.

I don't know really where I would rank it, but the Grateful Head Pizza Oven & Tap Room in Broken Bow, OK... damn good. We went camping up at Beaver's Bend State Park last year and needed a pizza fix.
The place was very good and the pizza's were awesome. |
Love the NY-style pizza personally. My favorite place is fat sully's here in Denver, though I'm sure somewhere in NYC there its a better place. Just haven't spent enough time there to find one.

The Miners Saloon in Cooke City, Montana makes some pizza that will rock your world. If you're ever going into Yellowstone that way, it's worth the stop.

Lombardi's in New York is pretty awesome. Love Varasano's here in Atlanta. There's also a place here called Antico that won a best pizza in the world contest over in Italy. Need to try that one too.
If you're looking for great places to try, or how to make a great (read world class) pizza at home enjoy this: http://www.varasanos.com/PizzaRecipe.htm#GreatPizzerias |
Can't ever go wrong with Papa Murphy's pizza, take it home eat some cheese off the top then put it in the oven. Pretty pretty good pizza.
However The best pizza I had ever had was home made pizza @ Do Drop Inn, in Pueblo Colorado. ****ing awesome. It has probably been close to 20 years since I have had there pizza but I remember very well how great it was and have been disappointed in most pizzas ever since. I would like to take a road trip just to go there and experience there pizza again. |
In 1988 there was a movie made called Mystic Pizza and in 1991 I had the opportunity to visit there with a slogan of a slice of heaven, they weren't kidding.

Kostakis in Coumbia MO.

Poppy's Pizza in Estes Park, Colorado. Amazing pizza. Unfortunately, my favorite pizza there is $30 for a large.

Sarpino's or D'Bronx.

Bearno's Little Sicily in Louisville.

Nothing has ever tasted as good as the first large ground beef, that I bought at one of the original Pizza huts, back in the 60s with my own money. The Carney's made a great pizza.
But my preference here in Chicago, is Lou Malnati's Pizzaria. We don't eat a lot of pizza anymore, but when we order delivery, it is from Amatos or Rosatis. Both are outstanding. |
