1. His PFF grade for 2017 was 80.6, which was 36th at his position group. Slightly above average.

2. He is 32 years old, and will be 33 by the end of this upcoming season. His best days are behind him, and he is more likely to drop down to average, at best.

3. He was owed a $3 million roster bonus in a couple weeks. His salary cap number was $7.4 million for this year. Pretty high for a slightly above average guy. By cutting him, they save $2.2 million on the cap this year, and more next year.

4. Seattle has pretty clearly determined that the window of time to win championships with the current group of guys, who carried them to multiple super bowls, is over, and that it's time to rebuild around Russell Wilson.

5. They obviously had some serious issues getting over their SB loss to the Patriots. It apparently resulted in some players resenting Pete Carroll, and/or Wilson. It was disruptive and divisive to the team. AN NFL TEAM CANNOT WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS IF IT IS FULL OF INTERNAL SQUABBLING.

Seattle is a very progressive area and Pete Carroll has never had an issue working with players that have attitudes or stances. I think this a team moving on from an aging player and basically shutting the door on this group.

County, Texas announced it has indicted Eagles’ DE Michael Bennett for felony charge for injuring a 66-year-old paraplegic working at NRG Stadium to control access to field at SuperBowl LI. A warrant has been issued for Bennett’s arrest.
