I suppose humble is relative...

If the Chiefs get 'bent over' it's only because they chose to ... just like they chose to get bent over in the Alex Smith trade.

They can afford to keep Albert on the tag
Albert has already sign the tag so he will get fined for not showing up

Albert has no leverage unless he goes nuclear and refuses to play for the Chiefs even if he loses every dollar for the entire year in fines.

i suppose he can refuse to play all year and force the Chiefs to choose to tag him again next year.

Albert has no leverage

Technically they can afford it. It also leaves them with around $1 million in cap room. That's not a lot of room if something happens and we need to sign a player.

The previous administration didn't do a bunch for contract renegotiations so there is plenty of cap room available by shifting money around on paper.

Why would Dorsey sign BA long term before the end of this season again?

Here are 3 possible reasons:

1. To reduce his cap number

2. To retain his services for several years when the market for OTs is down

3. To gain control of him for several years so they can try to trade him at the end of the season without a new contract being an issue.

NO.

Branden is ours and nobody else can have them.

All offers from here on out are to be met with a resounding **** you.

I hate Fat Scott but he did do a lot as far as contracts.

By not signing anyone, at all, of any impact. He restructured players.

If we were a 4 time SB winner he'd have done a great job...

Hopefully Brandon knows that his value won't go up as he gets older.

Yeah, if I'm Albert, a deal needs to get done with the Chiefs right now.

Infidel Goat 05-08-2013 10:53 AM

Albert's leverage and financial future depend entirely upon him staying healthy and playing at an elite level this year.

And even then, he knows he can be franchised a second time and have to do it all again.

If he wants more guaranteed money, he'll have to sign for Long money.

.

The guy banked 15.8 mil on his first nfl contract and another 9+ mil this upcoming year. His financial future is already pretty good, and if he invested wisely he'd never have to work another day in his life.

Who can we restructure? DJ, Charles, and Flowers are all on pretty good deals for us.

Tamba is the only one that comes to mind.

or Berry. But his restructure would probably come the way of a extension.
