I don't see how he plays on the tag, in terms of cap issues.

So that means he's either signing a long-term deal or getting traded. Eliminates the possibility of him walking away for a comp. pick to a team we don't want him playing for.

Buys us time to work it all out. Huge offseason for the front office.

If we trade him somewhere I expect the Raiders to then trade for him with whoever we send him to.

Jones is playing for the Chiefs this season. You keep a guy like that for as long as you can make it work, and we can make it work.

My understanding is that the tag is not bad for next year (15 million or so which compared to Clark 20+ million). Now some question is whether he will report under the tag. Most of the time it seems that players are willing to hold out or report late in the season then come in on a 1 year tag. Though Cousins sure made the tag work for him but QB's operate on wholly different economic scale.
