Have had some wild shit happen lately.

Came in to the office Tuesday morning, at my rural office and a little ol lady is sitting in here car in the parking lot with the windows down. I walk by to get to the front door and she immediately starts in on me. "These dentures don't fit, I gotta have something done".

Ok, no problem. Come on in. She sits down and just continues to berate me for them. "I can't believe you would make a set of dentures that fit this poorly, how do you live with yourself. If I had any money I would get a lawyer and we would have it out".

So I sit and listen to her for 15 minutes. Finally she stops for a minute to let me respond, so I calmly say "Ma'am, this is the first time I have ever seen you. I don't know where you had these made, but it wasn't here".

She looks at me bewildered, says "Wait, you aren't Dr (Insert some other name)".

"No".

She gets up and walks out.

No apologies or anything? Man, 92% of the time I just hate people in general.

I was just happy she was leaving and I wasn't involved at all.

On to the next patient I went.

You know what I've found really helps in situations with agitated women on a rant?

...."Are you finished?"

They love that. Calms 'em right down.

You've stooped to trying to convince little old ladies that they have dementia to get out of fixing their dentures? Man, you've reached a new low.

I've tried that with different results. Seem legit though.

Old people are touchy.

They are either the most generous and nice people I've worked for, or they will try to blame me and my crew for everything, especially shit that we don't even get close to touching.

displacedinMN 03-21-2024 11:22 AM

That old lady may have put in someone elses dentures.

I hope, that there is a change in how old people act as my new generation of old people age. 60 and below? I try to be nice Try. Some youngers make it hard.

I am 55. My grandfather retired at 55. I have to teach at least another 5 if not 10 years.
FML...Where is that old people thread?

Unfortunately death is imminent for us all on a long enough time line.

Being old, he will drive about 20-25mph.

He better leave now.

My wife bought one of those water flosser things a while back. She doesn't like using it since it involves a lot of water spillage, so it's all mine. I don't mind water spillage.

It uses so much water that every time I use it, a lawn in southern California dies. But I feel like a new man afterwards with factory-fresh teeth.
