I am sure there are a few close up shots with them actually there. But don't get all upset when you can clearly see the switches from CGI to non CGI.

LMAO I hope it does look better than the first movie. No, those aren't close up shots but they also aren't exactly what we will see in the movie. Unless, of course the editing has gotten lazy and we are going to see the set construction in the movie.

You're a son of a bitch.

Aspengc8 06-14-2013 10:54 AM

He's Thranduil's son.

And fanboys will love it.

Oh, just wait until I tell you what I thought of Into Darkness.

I liked it!

Deberg_1990 06-14-2013 10:58 AM

Was Legolas in the Hobbit book?

Hammock Parties 06-14-2013 11:02 AM

No. It's a brilliant addition by a master filmmaker.

I'm sure Bloom was more than happy to accept this paycheck. His career has been floundering.

He's not in the book, but it is not unreasonable that he is there since it is his father's kingdom that Bilbo and the Dwarves tumble into. I have no problem with him being in the movie. The female elf, Tauriel, isn't in the book either, but since Tolkien glosses over much of the elven details, the movie needs such characters to drive interesting plot lines.

Movies are very rarely exact depictions of the books they portray. I've never understood people who cannot separate one form of entertainment media from another. I enjoyed the books, and I'm enjoying the movies. I don't need these two media forms to agree on every aspect in order for me to appreciate the artistic value in each.

Books allow me to fill in the visual parts with my imagination. Movies give me an opportunity to see someone else's vision brought to life. They both have their strengths and drawbacks.

At least with the Hobbit, there is a lot if information out there besides what's solely in the book. So this is one of those things where it's actually really cool to see the extras that weren't even in the book.

This looks lame as hell (and this is coming from a fan of Jackson's Lord of the Rings). Waaaay too much cgi. CGI orks just dont work here. They arent scary since they are computer generated.

Give me guys in makeup and costumes any day of the week over this shit.
