Oh, I'm fairly certain the Armor Engineer Board at Fort Knox (if they haven't already) will be rolling out their version in short order....

They'll be needing the help of Sweden and British BAE, otherwise it'll just be a cheap knockoff like everything else they have

Yes it will be.

I tend to get too fascinated with air and ground systems, you're the submariner here... how bouts finding us something cool relating to subs? :)

I honestly tend to overlook them, but subs are just as crucial... and not nearly as glamorized

Whats the latest scoop on super-cavitation?

I operated off the Narwhal, in many ways it was very cool and very different compared to the others we rode.

Very quiet and an interesting screw.

But these are fun to watch if you want the latest on what fast attack boats are doing.

The super-pricey Seawolf class:

The less expensive, yet newer, Virginia class:

Skipped around for 5 minutes on the first clip, but man o man I cant take that computer voice narration

I've posted some stuff with the same thing, its very common and if you read around the comments on all of this kinda stuff, it puts everyone off... but that shopped opening shot looks mighty indeed

The second will need some time to digest, but I will absolutely check it out... looked like a British crew, but thats fine

The last one though, seems to be the biggest news of the day... apparently the Los Angeles class of subs have become too noisy for modern warfare and are found lacking in many ways

Apparently, a quieter diesel-electric Russian built model operated by the Indian Navy, 'sank' an LA class sub of ours during a recent training exercise... the big push after that seems to be a switch to more Virginia class craft

Both my Son and my Daughter served in the Navy - I could never understand it. My Son was a WEPS Officer on a guided missile cruiser and my Daughter was a JAG officer. But the thought of being on a sub? Hell, no way....I would go ape shit crazy....I HAVE to be on land.

Meh, small crew (a few more depending on the mission), first name/nickname basis top to bottom, few formalities, nobody bothers you, no painting, few stupid people, few lazy people, far less skimmer bullshit. I loved it! We visited skimmers to talk ASW and it just plain sucked. Pretty decks though! Lot's of exercise polishing stuff.

Only 35 tons? Sounds like IFV weight.

The armor on that stealth tank must be lacking.

Also, what does it do to combat the heat signature caused from a main gun after firing. What about heat from the exhaust?

Limited role is what I see from the PL-01.

True, pretty sure its not meant to be a main battle tank, more of a specialist

One can only assume they've done things to address heat signature, like the covering on the barrel for instance

I supposed if you remained stationary, you could hide. It would obviously be a niche weapon. Great for night time static forest ambushes of 1 shot.

I was mildly curious about the weight as well...If memory serves, the M48 and the M60A1 tipped the scales at around 50 tons (more or less) and I "think" the Abrams was around the same. 35 tons would put this vehicle in the neighborhood of a early version Sherman WWII tank.

Now, of course, with this "stealth" ability" it CAN stay off the radar of enemy planes and most ground anti-tank capabilities. But still - it would only take a split second of being seen, to take it out with a hell fire or the latest shoulder fired anti tank weapon.
