Yes, one of the worst. Jamey Johnson who wrote it and is a really true-to-the-genre-old-school-outlaw-country type has even admitted that he's embarrassed to have penned it... but he needed to eat at the time... which is pretty much all the proof you need that even the artists know that crap sells. I'm with you on Trace too... he either really hits it good or really does crap.

I've been holding off posting my love affair with Jamey Johnson for when I have time to get into it like I want to. I may have to do it tonight.

I love Ronnie Dunn. Loved Brooks 'N Dunn and now Ronnie's solo stuff is just awesome imo. This song isn't just timely for the way things are now economically and with unemployment, it could have been a great song at pretty much any time in the past.

Ronnie has, to me, maybe the truest voice in country music.

Here's a cool live version too. One of the first times he performed it.

This was Ronnie's solo debut after Brooks 'N Dunn called it quits. The part at the beginning is shot with his daughter who'd just broken up with her boyfriend. As the story goes she told him her situation would go well with the song and offered to help with the video so Ronnie set up a camera on his property and filmed a talk they had and they used the one little part in the video. His daughter and her best friend are in the video throughout.

Ronnie also said when the song was pitched to him he thought it was "too big" for him and someone more in the "larger than life" category should do it. He suggested U2 do it... and I can hear that... but the writter and studio wanted Ronnie to do it so he went for it. I'm glad he did.

I've always liked Brooks and Dunn...but have to admit that Ronnie Dunn IMO really carried that duo. His vocals are pure....

I almost slugged someone one day when they compared Brooks and Dunn to Hall & Oates....I told him that unlike Darryl Hall, Ronnie Dunn would have a great solo career. It's too early to call it great, but so far he has far outperformed Darryl Hall.
