He’s cheap. There is talent there. And we are finally staffed in a way that I think he could actually contribute. |
Hollywood Brown 2023 drop rate: 4.0%
Marquez Valdes-Scantling 2023 drop rate: 7.1% Kadarius Toney 2023 drop rate: 13.2% |
As a former Skyy believer, he has OTAs and the start of TC to show growth and that he's worth a roster spot. If not, cut him.
*fully expecting him not to show that* |

Our #1 and #2 to start last year will be battling to make the team. And we still won the SB with them, and didn't even add a guy in season. Crazy.
|
Hollywood! Everyone should be rooting for him to have an ENORMOUS fricken year. Keep the 1 year prove it deals coming. Mahomes will deliver you a giant next contract.
|
If this works out big for Hollywood, it's a great selling point for future free agent WRs who don't like their market.

If you travel 12,000 miles in a year (roughly average American driver), you'll show a greater marginal gain going from a vehicle that gets 12 MPG to one that gets 24 MPG (thus saving 500 gallons) than you would going from one that got 24 MPG to 12,000 MPG (thus saving 499 gallons). Same story here. Going from Skyy Moore to Hollywood Brown could end up providing greater marginal benefit than going from someone like Hollywood Brown to Jerry Rice. The damage done by lousy is damn near incalculable. And if we can get from lousy (Skyy Moore) to mere slightly above average, that's gonna be a MASSIVE improvement for us even if the new addition isn't incredible in his own right. |

Grab Worthy or McConkey and the league is F'ed!

I'd still take Worthy because he can play the gadget role this year, then take over for Brown after he gets paid elsewhere.
Offense would be absolutely unstoppable this season. |
Holy shit this is an amazing deal for us. He's betting on himself to set him up for a big contract. This is so huge..... paying him less than MVS. The same if he hits incentives

If Brown's back after this season, Worthy is layered. I love speed but you can't have both of your speed guys be undersized. Now maybe Veach intends to do exactly that. But man, if Brown comes in here and clicks and provides the kind of spark opposite of Rice that we want - isn't he a guy you retain if at all possible? |

He was just taking longer to work out what the incentives would be LMAO |
People had themselves worked up to the point where we needed to pay 18 mil a year for this guy.

He was in demand as well.
The Chiefs may have just signed 1A to Ridley in terms of the best available free agent WR… at a fraction of the cost.

Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was getting interest from all around the league. There were games where defenses funneled targets to Watson and he’s just not built to be a chain mover. Others where we relied heavily on Pacheco and gray because we didn’t trust our WRs not named rice. It would be huge to have a true wr checkdown option. Or when mahomes is in a jam a guy who can make some tough catches for you. Sometimes you just need an ole’ reliable. Skyy doesn’t do any of those things. If we need a possession guy get a big body. If we need catch and run, get a speed or shifty guy. If we need reliability get a guy with football iq. Ideally it shouldn’t be hard to find a guy who can do most of those things at least reasonably well |
Can you imagine the ****ing stress it will put on a defense if you have 4.27 and 4.21 speed in Hollywood and Worthy running deep crossers. Kelce and Rice would tear the center of the field to shreds.

At virtually any position. If you draft an OT that allows you to move Wanya into G, you don't have to retain Smith and you free up a contract there. If you draft a DL to complement the rush with Karlaftis/Jones (or if FAU steps up) then you don't have to re-sign Omenihu. And it doesn't even have to be on the OL. We haven't extended Reid - what if it's a safety in the 3rd? Or Zach Frazier at C in the 2nd? Junior Colson at LB? If you pull 2 starters from this draft that can backfill for guys like Bolton, Smith, Reid and/or Creed - why WOULDN'T you bring Hollywood back if he's a fit? |

Man, he is going to thrive in Andy's offense. He'll be getting the ball in space a lot. And I bet he'll be really good on the jet sweeps.

I am still hoping for a Mike Williams signing.
It may be too cost prohibitive… but the creative ways Andy could incorporate Williams into the offense would be sick. He’s basically the same height/weight as Jody Fortson so he could even line up in some TE positions in 12/13 personnel packages, help in the red zone/short yardage, etc. |
Mahomes doesn't throw jump balls. I don't know why people want Coleman or Mike Williams.
|
Quote:
And what Brown does is give us a full season to let that guy get up to speed. But what I like is that we don't HAVE to go that route. We can do whatever we want. If the board falls poorly for us at WR, we can grab someone else and backfill. The only real problem scenario is if we take a WR on day 1 or 2 and both Brown AND the new WR fail to click. In which case we're right back here again. Only in that case, I think deeper questions would need to be asked as to what we're doing at the position and why it's not working. |
Quote:
And then we all complain that we didn’t offer him 3 for 54 this season. |
Veach got Chris Jones and Hollywood Brown for 2024 for 1 million more than Gabe Davis will make……runs absolute circles around this league LOL.

Receiver still a position of need in my opinion but it takes all the pressure off of any rookie stepping in- Kelce, Rice and Brown is plenty of fire power for the Chiefs offense while a rookie WR gets their feet under them.
Also allows the Chiefs to focus on BPA in the draft also instead of pigeon holing them in drafting a position. Great signing. |

I don’t love McMilllan like you do but I like him. Still feel that Roman Wilson fit here really nicely if we wait until the 2nd rd. I’m thinking LT or DL will be our first pick. Sneaky feeling it’s LT. |
Nobody is going to have the balls to say it?
I will. Xavier Legette would compliment this WR room perfectly. |
7 million for Brown plus incentives is much better than 23 million for Ridley with all the guarantees.
Veach is da bomb. If we get Mike Williams too, the rest of the league may simultaneously start crying. |
