Guys I went to Chuck E Cheese for a nice pizza dinner and I was appalled by all the running and screaming kids. This one family had a baby that screamed the ENTIRE time I was there!

Parenting has gone way downhill!

I do focus groups, and we give people a meal or snacks when they participate.
We specifically ban certain types of food based on their wrapper and/or crunchiness. They completely screw up the recording and observation.

No bubble gum either, I imagine?

Don't go in the bathroom.

No bubble gum either, and we only use plastic spittoons for tobacco chaws. Brass resonates.

Actually, I’m complaining about the non acting parent. Kids will be kids. Mine cried at restaurants but I dealt with it.
This is an interesting social examining thread. Half the people are like “ deal with the idiots that make life miserable for others”, and half are like “ those idiots need to deal with the reason they make life miserable for others”. Interesting

Yeah it is showing why we have the problems we do now.

The only answer is get up with your child and go outside until they calm down. You as a responsible parent should not ruin other people's experience. Unless it is a kids establishment like Chucky cheese, get up and go outside and/or get your food to go.

These are the same people that allow their kids to make huge messes or destroy aisles in stores. Never their fault.

Yeah, I figure we all have a legal right to go to a restaurant. If it's a restaurant where I'd expect to find a lot of kids, I'll close my earlids and tolerate it because I knew what I was in for.

If it's a mid-level restaurant or higher, I'll just assume that the parents are incompetent and stupid if they don't take some sort of action for a kid who's acting up.

In a minor side story, I was on a flight earlier this month, and (sigh), two women and a four year-old sat in the row behind me. It was clearly a mother and a grandmother, and the mother was putting on a big show to show how great a mother she was. She was loudly having the brat count to five and identify things out the window and all sorts of stuff, constantly and loudly. If she gave the kid that much attention in everyday life, the kid would be solving calculus differentials instead of throwing toy cars around the cabin. The kid kept kicking and hitting the back of my seat so much that I finally got up and found an empty seat somewhere else, and the flight attendants were quite amenable.
