ROFL ya ok. That's it. He's going to be in last place for the next 5 years.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jeremy Maclin's contract with the Chiefs will pay him in the vicinity of $11 million per year.
We can now understand why Chip Kelly let Maclin get away. While Maclin is a very nice receiver, paying him more than guys like Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson and Antonio Brown is a monstrous stretch. It's also a stretch to think Alex Smith could support a wide receiver enough for him to be worth $11 million annually. The Eagles were reportedly offering Maclin $9 million per year.

Didn't this guy have multiple ACL problems?

Yes, and had a breakout year last year. 2nd year into his recovery is much better for these athletes.

Not really, no

It's funny FAs would rather go to Jacksonville than Oakland. Julius Thomas (grew up a Raiders fan) spurned you.

Two. Once in college and in 13.

You're reaching. Enjoy your center.

He nearly signed here for 6 mil per during the year.

But yeah, I'm not a big fan of paying a center that much but in today's nfl, it is what it is.

He's a good player though.

Nobody in their right mind would spend $9 million on a good, not great center.

They wanted Hudson and have been talking about him since wiz balked at the Raiders offer to him...

Raiders upgraded the position substantially with this signing and if they paid a million or two too much it's not a big deal because they have to spend the money to get to the 89% floor of the salary cap

Raiders picking off centers in free agency.

Chiefs picking off play makers.

Tell me what would the fades be saying if they outbid the Chiefs for Maclin and we resigned Hudson and got a second tier Hartline? You guys would be besides yourself.

okcchief 03-09-2015 08:52 PM

I like Hudson but I'm pretty shocked he got paid like that. Good for him

BigChiefFan 03-09-2015 09:00 PM

Poe knows Hudson's tendencies, so for that price tag, I'm not concerned in the least. Getting excited about a FA center is laughable.

If the Chiefs are ever in a position where they have to waste money to get to the cap floor we need to firebomb Arrowhead.

The Faiders have $70 million in cap room.

Teams are required to spend 99% of the cap or give up the excess.

Instead of giving up a couple of draft picks for Houston or signing Randall Cobb or Maclin or any other premium player, the Faiders spent $9 million per year on a center.

Faiders. Faiders. Faiders.

you sure? like i said idk how it works but looking at the projections NE is supposed to get a 3rd for losing talib and they signed revis for more. Denvers supposed to get a 4th for losing beadles, and they signed talib for more. i know revis was released so that may be a different situation, but i dont believe talib was released. denvers also supposed to get picks for moreno, phillips, and ayers. and we all know how much money they spent. ward, ware.

The 2015 Compensatory Picks are based on 2014 losses and signings.

every single guy i just mentioned was from the 2014 FA class, and the projected picks i'm referring to are for this year. i know that hudson and maclin would count towards 2016 comp picks. but i just gave examples of 2 teams last year who lost FA's, signed even more expensive FAs, and are expected to receive several comp picks this year. i'm failing to see how signing maclin will affect hudsons comp pick if talib didnt affect denver getting a comp pick this year for losing beadles.

20 million guaranteed. For a center. You can have him.

When you have to guarantee 20 million dollars to get a ****ing CENTER to come play for your organization, then there's no question that your organization is not seen as a destination by NFL players.

geez, just because he looked good compared to the trash he was playing next too doesn't mean he was a top guy in the league.

Why didn't New Orleans just go after an 'elite' guy like Hudson then?

The guy is ranked in the top by several different sources. Who says that other teams weren't making him offers? The raiders just made him the highest paid center in history.
