Yet....he's still out there. So either Reid is ****ing stupid and doesn't want to make a change. OR he doesn't believe that anyone behind McGlynn could do better. Both of those are ****ing pathetic.

And because we're "still in the playoff race", we won't get to see any of the younger guys get reps.

I suggest they all get hammered before the game. It would look like the late 70's all over again.

Seriously - that's an EXCELLENT point.

I used to throw darts with some of the best shooters in the SE. They would all get laced on Cocaine in the bar's bathroom, come back 'focused' and then start pounding trips (darts.)

I think Alex should try Cocaine prior to games - at this point. It really may help!

Why was there no sense of urgency to snap the ball those times? No really - EVERYone saw that it was casual and tic, tic tic - I swear it took them like 22 seconds to form and snap. I'm guessing at the actual seconds but something near there I'd imagine - not only once but TWICE - two occasions zero sense of the situation!

Honestly - I was a boyscout for about 3 weeks, seriously I dropped out.

But we had a football team division, and my half of the troop team would have made it to the line and snapped it faster than the Chiefs. And we would wear the heavy starched navy blue dickey (brand) like slacks.

Unbelievable!

What's even more pathetic - you could populate a 100+ thread on here w/ nothing but pics of whiffed (by Alex) reads and there again; expose his inept awareness.

We're actually the exact same team as last year - only a little different chemical-reaction as the final pathetic 'fielded' product.

We suck.

Difference between the WRs last year? Dexter McCluster. He was just fine with them last year. If anything....it should be better because he has another off season of working with them.

Yeah and did you all watch Brady on Sunday? My God - now THAT is how it's done via his quick release - why can't you teach that to Alex? - doesn't even matter we beat them now - we were frauds and no one had realized it until roughly 2/3 into seas. Now they've seen just how bad we really are. It was a living lie there for a bit.

Blitz came from the top, right through McGlynn. Receiver wide open in vacant area where he came from.

I have confidence the coaching staff can and will point this stuff out to him when they review film.... I hope.

But when does it start making a difference? If you show him over and over again and nothing changes.......what do you do? They aren't going to bench him and teams will continue to blitz him because he can't handle it and react.

My only glimmer of hope is that Reid is trying to force Smith to throw down the field more. Smith is showing that he either can't or he won't.....and then Reid/Dorsey will just cut him after this season.

why can't they utilize a fake to charles right and then a quick out to DAT on the other side - or even Wilson? I saw Brady use that play against the blitz maybe 2 times and it really worked out - do we just not have the staff to block 'downfield' - was Fasano out on Sun? Did that hurt us more than we thought it would - do you think?

Todd Bowles schemed after the half to shut out Alex by predominately only rushing three guys and dropping the rest into zone, especially on the INT, while still blitzing selectively. It worked. Expect it again this weekend.

Clay could probably provide some. It'd be fun if I could find some plays and post the blocking for it. Would require some time and collaboration though.

The answer is Alex being able to punish the defense of the Faid, Steelers and Bolts with his arm... those teams will try and copy what the Cardinals did in the second half.

I don't know, man. Was that the play where Kelce fumbled?

It looks like a few of those still frames happened after the ball had already been thrown, which explains one DB turning around since the ball was obviously going to Kelce.

I didn't conclude much from those .jpgs

Nope, he spun around to cover DAT on the 7 route. There are plenty of .gif's and A22 pics showing missed reads galore by Alex.

Replay shows the play/route concept develop better.

I think Alex is not decisive enough, quick enough.

Brady is deliberate and it doesn't even matter - because when it happens it's like poof you're toasted. That's my beef with Alex I think. Even more so than the lack of deep passing.

Simply Red 12-09-2014 07:13 PM

& honestly I'd like to see Smith succeed - I really really like his personality - he's a nice/genuine level-headed guy. If it doesn't work out for him in the NFL I still think he's a hell of a good guy and pretty darned talented. I really do hope for the best for Alex.

That's the thing that gets me - seriously - he really IS very sharp and test proven academically but yet can't read nor release like Brady or any where near that fast. I don't get it - seems he has the right build and is physically gifted enough - Do these coaches not emphasize read+release ???? or teach it - or does Alex not work on drills exercising these very things?!

I don't get that part - and to me his lack of reading d's is even more detrimental than not throwing 25+ yard passes.

I really think it's lack of coaching, at least a little bit.

Aspengc8 12-09-2014 09:08 PM

Lets be honest here.. there's not much any QB can do when the opposing defense runs Bearcat 52 Mike every freaking play. For christs sake, they have four players with their hand in the dirt!!

Pablo 12-09-2014 09:56 PM

Alex had his testicles removed in SF. He was made to wear them on his throwing wrist like a bracelet.

Every time he steps into a throw all he can see are his own shrinking, rotting nuts flapping against his palm in his peripheral. Poor guy. Now we know why he's so gun shy.

Wow. That one you quoted is shocking. Truly shocking.

I've been complaining since last year about our route tree. "Where are the posts, deep corners, double moves?" I've asked.. Looks like the outside receiver ran a post-corner.

It truly is Alex Smith. It's all Alex Smith.

Shit. Andy is a ****ing reerun when he gets away from the run, but maybe he's actually not. Teams are stacking the shit out of the box and daring Smith to beat them. Reid is calling passing plays in which guys are RIDICULOUSLY wide open. And Alex is not hitting them. Ever.

Wow. I'm speechless.

Alex is a great sliding quarterback - if they had a stat for that - he'd be right there atop the league - GREAT SLIDER!!

Ok but srsly; with all of the criticism on these aerials - I have to mention - maybe on two - there are issues w/ his window down field - his (Alex's) path to said receiver - some really to look like they could have been tipped - not making excuses - but I think that's worth pointing out on two of the stills.

I think we have a good idea now as to why our receivers appear to drop so many balls. They're shocked that they finally have a pass thrown their way after running countless wide open routes only to watch Alex check down to Sherman 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

It's a good job for those wide receivers. They just go out and run wind sprints for three hours every Sunday (and Avery just jogs), and they get paid NFL money.
