I'm finna change my name to Nori Aoki.

Aoki signed a deal with the devil. This is the best 3 days of baseball in his entire life. He didn't dominate like this in little league.

Before the White Sox series, he was OBP'ing .333. Not including today's game, (although I suspect it will definitely go up), he's at .345 now.

11 ABs is quite a lot when you think about it. I watch a lot of baseball, but I can't remember a stretch that good, at least, in recent history.

Don't care. It would be monumentally reeruned to argue otherwise. After tonight, he'll have his 10th straight quality start.

Dinny Bossa Nova 09-17-2014 07:46 PM

Coach 09-17-2014 07:46 PM

Ventura should be in the starting rotation in the playoffs. Anyone else who disagree with that is an idiot.

tk13 09-17-2014 07:47 PM

I'd start Ventura too. His stuff is too good to waste.

But I can at least see the appeal of putting him in the bullpen. You put Ventura/Finnegan/Herrera/Davis/Holland out there, you could end games by the 5th inning.

WhawhaWhat 09-17-2014 07:47 PM

5-1 Royals after 5

I'd do that too. But if you're being real, Guthrie is not going to pitch unless one of the other starters gets completely hammered.

I get it too. But it also means Guthrie would be in the rotation, and that just makes no sense whatsoever. He's a DISTANT number 5 in our 5 man rotation.

Just preparing you for the inevitable. I have always wanted to keep him as a starter, but the reliever idea was intriguing. Or hearing it over and over again with slight variations has ingrained it as a valid idea into my mind

Since the Royals have never been in the playoffs in my lifetime, I'm not really sure how teams set up their pitching staff when in the playoffs. Do they go 3-man or 4-man? If it's 3-man, you have to have Shields in there, obviously, but after that, it's hard to say.

I'd go with Shields, Vargas, and Ventura as the starters, but only because Duffy has been injured recently. Duffy can bring the same thing as Ventura could out of the pen. Go to Guthrie if it's a blowout in your favor or if you're out of arms in a long game.

Thus it's a perfect spot for Guthrie to be the long reliever if one of our starters are getting hammered, or God forbid, gets injured. It's a better option than having Hendriks.

Shields
Vargas
Ventura
Duffy

You can probably make a case on flipping Vargas, Ventura, or Duffy on the #2 spot.

Yea but I doubt they'd bring up Zimmer for anything give his continued rehab with that injury. I don't know though, it's an interesting thought.

Oh I know you weren't being critical. It's just the consistency part that he'll get with experience.

CoMoChief 09-17-2014 08:23 PM

Guthrie absolutely SHOULD NOT start in the playoffs.

At best he'd be a long reliever in the 'pen.

1.Shields
2.Duffy
3.Ventura
4.Vargas

Yost should be canned if he starts Guthrie in the playoffs.
