I think you might be referring to the $72 CBE tickets. I agree, that was hilarious. give them credit though looks like they learned their lesson and are pricing back at $20 this season.

Like when they dropped the game to Baylor on purpose so they wouldn't have to play Mizzou again in their last year in the conference?

Won the Big 12 at 16-2. But of course we win it every year so no biggie.

Won the NCAA regional too. I was there. Incredible feeling, maybe once in your lifetime you'll experience it.

Turner to put Final Four broadcasts on three channels and customize two of them to participating teams

Quote:

TruTV will carry the semifinals of the NCAA Final Four in April. So will TNT. TBS, too.

In an unprecedented move, Turner Sports and CBS will produce three different telecasts for each of the two national semifinal games, each with its own set of announcers. The traditional national telecast will run on TBS, while TNT and truTV will carry the same games at the same time with announcers and camera angles customized to each specific team.

TNT and truTV also will produce different halftime shows that will be focused on the different teams in the Final Four. Pre- and postgame shows will be simulcast across all three channels.

Let’s say the country’s top two teams last week — Kentucky and Michigan State — meet in one semifinal. TNT would use announcers with connections to Kentucky during its telecast, while truTV would use a Michigan State-focused crew for its production. Turner officials have not decided what types of talent they will pursue and maintain that all options for using unique personalities are on the table.
Cool idea.

Come now. You guys have had diaper rash since we were promoted to the SEC.

Now that the 27 game losing streak has been broken, I'm sure that Kansas football will fade back into obscurity. It was fun snickering about it all for a while but the world will little note nor long remember that one winning record you guys have posted in the past 20.

You guys still have basketball, and it sounds like the expectations couldn't be higher. It should be a fun spring for you.

Spring?

KU Basketball is the top in college sports, the Chiefs are vying for the number #1 seed in the AFC and the KU Football team just beat a program that's been to 11 straight bowls.

I'd say things are pretty nice for KU fans right about now.

So back to sports: when does your basketball coach come off NCAA suspension for his cheating? Just curious what it must be like to have one coach barred by the NCAA and the other coach under probation by the school for his public drunkeness.

Saul Good 11-18-2013 01:09 PM

I'm pretty sure Kansas fans don't have to wonder what receiving penalties from the NCAA feels like.

Prison Bitch 11-18-2013 01:10 PM

Nope, our coach has never been suspended by the NCAA. Not in 120 years. You must be proud of Frank Haith.

Saul Good 11-18-2013 01:11 PM

I guess you don't have to wonder what it feels like to tear down goalposts after winning a non-rivalry game against an opponent who won't even qualify for a bowl, either...

Saul Good 11-18-2013 01:12 PM

Who is getting that extra bowl slot that the Big 1? can't fill, btw?

Your entire team was banned from postseason play in 1989. I suppose that is different from a suspension (which only affects the coach for 5 games and has no post-season implications), but I can't imagine you taking such care to parse the words.

As long as they are winning, nobody cares. That goes for any school.

RustShack 11-18-2013 03:25 PM

Big12 had 9 last year. It happens. SEC won't always be the best. Big12 has had years where they were the best, B1G has, and SEC is. It'll just change again in a few years.

It will never be the Big 1? that is on top. It won't always be the SEC on top, not every year, anyway. Another league will be better for a year here and there. It's hard to envision a scenario in which the SEC isn't the best over any five year period, though. No other conference will ever have a run of dominance the way the SEC is currently experiencing.

Funny thing...if aTm and Mizzou were in the Big 12 this year instead of the other two jokers, the Big 12 might be better than the SEC this year.

This is the part where you pretend that you get to simply say that not having more teams in the conference (because every team with an offer bolted) doesn't speak to how terrible your conference is.

Hey everyone...our teams may suck, but at least there aren't many of them! That counts for something, right? Besides...Florida State and Clemson will be here any minute.

It already has. Right now, the SEC is actually trailing the PAC for best conference rating:
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf...13/conference/

What's really interesting is that without Mizzou's rating included, there's almost no difference between the SEC-E and the Big 12. So they wanted to step up to a better conference? They're still playing the same caliber opponents in that division.

Impressive for the Big 12. If you only count the 6 teams in the weaker division of the SEC...and then you take out the best team from that division...the remaining five teams are only a little better than the Big 12 as a whole...according to a worthless computer.

Big 12: tougher with TCU and West Virginia

Good God. A ****ing baptist school in Waco is the toast of the conference.

Nothing like a ten team midwestern conference that includes the number two program in Iowa, the number two program in Kansas, the number two program in Oklahoma, the number 3, 4, & 5 programs in Texas...and West Virginia. All this to go along with two historic powers who are slowly bleeding out.

Eleazar 11-19-2013 01:38 PM

I think the Big 12 really needs Nick Saban. He could come in and dominate the Washington Generals for as long as he likes, and still be in a conference that's legitimately major enough to put him in the title game every year if he wins it. No LSUs or Auburns to trip him up occasionally. And having a team in the conference that is a title contender most years would go a long way to trying to establish the Big 12 as a legitimate major football conference again.

He's more or less the governor of Alabama right now, but that might not compare to having your own conference.
