The video I'm watching of the first explosion further up the route shows what looks like an older runner just getting flattened after the blast. Looked like he might have been hit by some shrapnel...or maybe just the concussion of the blast.

I hate this shit too but I don't know people are so paranoid about this or find it surprising. There are crazy ppl out there. Fact. They do crazy shit. Fact. Crazy ppl have always done crazy stuff. Holy shit. That video is eerie. the runners just sort of like wtf just happened. Whoever accepts responsibility for this is a huge pussy. Prayers for those hurt and their families.

Well, the parts in Boston are better known for being relatively price brownstones and the like. There is commercial there, but nothing big. No high rises, nothing that would suggest itself as a major target.

I saw that, too. My initial thought was that the average runner is going to be exhausted, so a blast in the area with weakened legs could bring a person down without getting hit by something.

That is just aweful. Hope none were anyone I know or family that attend. That's one block from where I used to work.

Right, saw that. Couldn't tell if it was concussion from the blast, but nobody else (including people who were closer) didn't go down, so I found that a bit odd. Shrapnel would make more sense.

That's what I thought and it's not uncommon in that race either. Been to it before. In fact, I worked a block from the race and would go down on a break to watch part of it.

No confirmation that it's a bomb (the 3rd explosion). Could have been anything not immediately identifiable. In light of what's going on, I'm sure Boston PD wasn't going to mess around and just blew it up.
