leadoff walk scores...who saw that coming?

alnorth 04-06-2013 06:39 PM

Cain strikes out (swinging)

0 runs, 0 hits

gblowfish 04-06-2013 06:44 PM

Mendoza has done a nice job tonight. If we walks another guy or gives up a hit in the sixth, it's probably bullpen time.

Also we have a lot of good wood on the bench tonight, if we can get a right hander in for Philly.

stonedstooge 04-06-2013 06:49 PM

Nice work Mendoza. How about 1 more inning

gblowfish 04-06-2013 06:49 PM

Mendoza nastyville in the 6th. Nice job!

alnorth 04-06-2013 06:50 PM

Damn, Mendoza.

I'd give him a chance to go 7, pull him if anyone gets on.

edit: unless our offense comes alive, we might have to pinch-hit him out.

NL baseball blows

gblowfish 04-06-2013 06:50 PM

That KC Chevy Dealers commercial with Moose and Hoz, I think the kid pitching named "Jackson" is George Brett's kid.

penbrook 04-06-2013 06:51 PM

Mendoza has improved so much. I remember when he came over from the Mariners and he was another Hochevar giving up home runs after home run.

His pitch count is pretty high. I'd watch him close.

Frenchy trying to lessen the hate with another double

-King- 04-06-2013 06:52 PM

Francour hasn't been bad this year.

TRADE HIM NOW!!!

penbrook 04-06-2013 06:52 PM

Francouer with a double. Were winning the world series this year.

Captain Obvious 04-06-2013 06:52 PM

Frenchy has actually been useful tonight. If he can keep this up, this lineup is scary good.

alnorth 04-06-2013 06:52 PM

If Frenchy is worth just 1 WAR this year, I'll be ecstatic.

Hootie 04-06-2013 06:53 PM

two years ago Frenchy played out of his mind

Shogun 04-06-2013 06:53 PM

OLD MAN!

gblowfish 04-06-2013 06:54 PM

Tejada is a spank monster! Nice job.

stonedstooge 04-06-2013 06:54 PM

Old man Tejada comes through

alnorth 04-06-2013 06:54 PM

Mendoza is done, Getz is pinch-hitting

Hootie 04-06-2013 06:54 PM

Frenchy in 2011 had a 2.7 WAR and followed it up with a -2.7 WAR last year...

like Al said...if he gets a 1 that isn't bad

Toadkiller 04-06-2013 06:54 PM

Good to have a good veteran on the team.

lewdog 04-06-2013 06:54 PM

Ordering my Tejada jersey right now.

penbrook 04-06-2013 06:54 PM

Now Tejada with a double. So far great find Dayton Moore.

But there's so much more strategy!

Wow, what a tough call for Ned Yost here! Does he let Mendoza hit or pinch hit? Oh man!

Maybe he should use a double switch!

I'd be perfectly happy with .260/20/70 from Francoeur this year, as long as he slugs in the .450 range. It's not as good as what he did in 2011, but you could live with it.

Nice pick from Billy there

ChiefsCountry 04-06-2013 07:01 PM

Now Crow, Herrera, and Holland to finish it off for the night.

stonedstooge 04-06-2013 07:03 PM

When Crow gets the slider going, it's nearly unhitable

alnorth 04-06-2013 07:03 PM

Yost double-switched.

Tejada out, Getz at second, Johnson moves to 3rd.

gblowfish 04-06-2013 07:04 PM

I'd let Crow pitch in the 8th until he give us a hit or a walk. We might be able to save some wear on Herrera.

alnorth 04-06-2013 07:05 PM

8th inning

Top 8th

Mike Adams relieves Lannan

Gordon strikes out (swinging)
Escobar flies out to left
Butler singles to left

Jarrod Dyson runs for Butler

Dyson steals second, Dyson to third on an Error by C
Perez grounds out to third

0 runs, 1 hit

Bottom 8th

Kelvin Herrera replaces Dyson and relieves Crow, batting 3rd

Eric Hosmer replaces Crow and comes in at 1B, batting 7th

Laynce Nix bats for Adams

Nix strikes out (swinging)
Revere grounds out to shortstop
Rollins strikes out (swinging)

0 runs, 0 hits

gblowfish 04-06-2013 07:07 PM

Phillies pitching coach is named "Rich Doobie?"
Man, they need to hire Rusty Kuntz!

KevB 04-06-2013 07:11 PM

How bad off are the Brewers right now? Yuni is batting sixth and playing first base. Ouch.

alnorth 04-06-2013 07:12 PM

well, I guess that was it. I start drinking, the Royals start scoring. I'll need to go buy some alcohol before tomorrow's game.

I didn't realize he was even with the Brewers. They'll have to let him walk after the season so we can keep flip flopping him back and forth.

You owe it to the rest of the Royal's fandom to drink yourself silly for every game - including the playoffs and eventual world series. Thanks in advance.

gblowfish 04-06-2013 07:15 PM

They're starting Alex Gonzalez at 3B and he's hitting cleanup. He's at least popped 20 homers a couple times, but still.

Archie F. Swin 04-06-2013 07:15 PM

I've had so much to drink, I can't recognize our hitters by their batting stance.

Braun and Aramis Ramirez are both out injured, so it's ugly for them right now.

They went for it with Greinke a couple of years ago, and now they're scuffling.

Injuries have just destroyed them.

Their minor league system is absolute garbage, and with Corey Hart and Mat Gamel both injured... they've got few options at 1B.

I think it's pretty dumb strategy. At best it works out less than a handful of games a season so it's not worth taking him out and having your best hitter on the bench for extra innings. I was hoping he'd either hit a home run or make an out so Yost couldn't pull him.

Unless you are winning, then we get at least 3 extra innings to come back. Sound fair to you? Good, play ball.
