Did I show this one already? I don't remember. A Wing Bass. Bought it for travel, also use it while sitting watching TV. Black Limba, Hipshot headless system. It uses regular gauge bass strings, and is essentially like a 34" scale bass with the neck cut off at the 12 fret. Easy to sit and play even in a La-Z-Boy. A practice bass that also sounds pretty good with an octave pedal to give you back the lower octave.

Nice. The shop around the corner from me sells G&L now, seems like real nice stuff.

Then, it has a distortion channel you can stack or leave off...It doesn't do death metal or business metal chugging but it's pretty darn good sounding for hard rock , 80's.... I'm still playing around with stacking it with amp distortion but so far I mainly like the overdrive side for that... I think if you have a really good amp that you love the clean tone of....this pedal is something to check out...especially if you either don't do nu-metal or have another pedal for that. |
Any cigar box guitar pickers out there?
Bought a cbg at a local jamboree and it's off with the builder getting a pickup installed. I'll post up pictures once I get it back but I'm new to it so any tips or links to books and videos from the knowledgeable is appreciated. |
Well here she is, muh new ax.
http://i64.tinypic.com/qohs9z.jpg I was jazzed to get a 4 string cigar box gitty because the wife bought this battery powered amplifier and diddley bow kits at an A.J. Gaither show, even got A.J. to sign it. http://i68.tinypic.com/2pq9sm9.jpg I built them but wasn't really interested in learning the diddley bow so I used it as an excuse to get what I did want and I'm pretty pleased with the results. It sounds great, projects nicely just playing acoustic and is a lot louder than I expected plugged into that little 2.5W amp. |
Almost a year and no new posts. Oh the shame Dinny im looking at you bud. I loved this thread. You guys who used photobucket I cannot see your gear now.
I got my son a G&L Tribute Fallout and the Monoprice 15 watt tube amp and he is digging it |

I can't upload pics due to a piece of shit phone. I will have to get a camera and get some pics.
I play on a 5 piece Black Panther Mapex set with 10"x8", 12"x9", 14"x14", and 16"x16" mounted and floor toms. A 22"x18" base drum with all maple/walnut mixed shells. I use Zildjian K-customs for cymbals with 14" hats and 16" and 17" crash's. I use a 22" ride with 14" hats. I have a few 8" and 9" splash cymbals as well. Great sounding set. Shit, i forgot about my 14" x 6" snare and a DW 9000 double bass pedal. |

Crazy... I JUST put my guitar down after testing my latest set up and opened CP to find this thread on the front page. It's been about 5 years, or so, I believe, since the mini catastrophe that destroyed my PC and caused me to lose all the songs I had been working on. I bought a new Ibanez a few days ago to play around with, and a nice little, base level, interface that came with Ableton 9 & Pro-tools. (Focusrite, Scarlett 2i2 2nd gen.) Anyway here's my little music corner. My prized possession is the Strat my best friend let me borrow before he went to war and never came back. Also have a Peavey dreadnaught, and the Ibanez Gio. http://i.imgur.com/GXucaTb.jpg |

Glad you mentioned that question... I was thinking about going the other route (presonus) but am kind of waiting to see if 'thunderbolt' technology takes off PC side. I dont know a ton about DAW but didn't want to invest in something with a new better technology (thunderbolt or mabe USB-C) right around the corner. I _really_ need to get a DAW and some nice monitors though was thinking about: http://a.co/hfiMBKa and http://a.co/6OKgAQf |
your setup looks amazing by the way!!

I am extremely resourceful. It sounds amazing too when you consider there is practically chump change invested in it. I'm running it through my Frankenstein PC to my receiver and out in 6.1. One great thing about living in a large city is that Offer-up, letgo and Craigslist are jam packed with people selling high end goods for practically nothing. If you keep your eyes open you can get deals that just make you melt. I have had to pull over a block away from picking up some stuff and laugh and shake and cry. Just in shock at what I just walked away with for the $45 I had on me at the time.... I bought a $1700 Les Paul for $150 from a kid who got it for his birthday. Didn't know what he had. Played it for a month, sold it for $1375. |

Hey Pawn & Beach, I'm on my iPad hanging with the kiddies, so I'll answer your questions in depth when I'm back in the studio tomorrow.
Long story short, I've been a Cubase user since the 90's and I'm on 8.5 right now (I always stay at least a version behind so I'm not susceptible to the initial bugs) but I always encourage people to find a DAW that seems "logical" in terms of work flow. At this point in time, there really is no wrong answer, other than Pro Tools, which will nickel and dime you to death. Thunderbolt is indeed up and running on PC's and I plan to build a TB PC at the end of the year or the first of January. Converters these days are amazing and there is truly not a tangible difference between a $99 dollar Steinberg UR22+ and an Apogee Symphony, which is $3k plus. That said, USB 2.0 is just fine, especially with low track count (One or Two inputs simultaneously versus 60, which is better suited to TB or PCIe using MADI). More tomorrow... |

So I've been lusting for another Gibson to add to my stable. I couldn't decide between a Les Paul or an SG.
A used 2018 SG Special with mini humbuckers and natural satin finish popped up on a guitar shop's website that I check on a regular basis, and I jumped on it right away. It got delivered today, and I've been playing it for hours. The guitar was hardly played by the previous owner. This thing is a tone beast. The bridge position sounds good, the middle position sounds better, and the neck position sounds great! The only negative thing I can point out is that the fret edges could use some work to smooth them out. But at the price I paid I won't complain too much. This is my first SG and I'm already looking to add another one. http://davesguitar.com/wp-content/up.../09/008354.jpg http://davesguitar.com/wp-content/up...4C-557x800.jpg http://davesguitar.com/wp-content/up...4E-557x800.jpg |

This thread has been dead for awhile where is Dinny Bossa Nova?
Any new gear folks? |
Some upgrading went on. Swapped out the black Ovation for a newer one. (gave it away to a guy who lost his guitars in a house fire). It's not as slim and I'm not happy with it. Loved my black one.
I replaced the pups on the Les Paul with Seymour Duncan P-Rails, including Triple Shots. The strap is Van Gogh's Starry Night. It's neat. https://i.ibb.co/t3nKynC/252482065-2...56-5767138.jpg https://i.ibb.co/zQNhh89/1577738684-...25-1507270.jpg |

I sold some guitars I acquired in a moving sale and bought a few since I posted here last. I acquired a new Gibson SG Special in Vintage Cherry that I truly love. I got it when they were closing them out because it was the undesirable automatic tuners. They are a pain in the ass and I plan to change them out but just haven't.
Seagull Mariner Dreadnaut which I like ok also. Its nothing fancy but sounds good to my ears. I picked up 2 Supro's one for me and one for my brother the Americana series reissue. when I was a kid in 1968 me and my brother received Airline Guitars and a practice amp Airline. Dad bought everything at Monkey Wards mostly and Sears. Valco sold Supro guitars under the Airline name at Ward's. So I got a Belmont Ozark single pickup in Red in the Americana series my original was yellow. My brother got a white like his original Supro Holiday Americana series. They sound pretty nice but mostly a good memory for sentimental value. Wish Id hung on to that old guitar they get a pretty good price for the right buyer. |

Eastwood has recreated the old Airline (Monkey Wards) brand that's kinda nice. I wonder if they will do the amps though I don't know who made the Airline branded old tube amps.

Looking through google I think this is the little practice amp we had in 68.

Bowie with his 61 Supro Dual Tone.
https://images.guitarguitar.co.uk/sm...0300_slick.jpg Supro reissued a David Bowie Dual Tone limited addition. I have seen it discounted to 499 as it was going for a grand. It's a good looking guitar that would look good on a wall. Probably doesn't play like the original. |
Finally splurged and bought a Gibson 70's model Flying V.
