No. We buy these sprouted corn tortillas from the natural food store.

GloryDayz 06-30-2013 07:54 PM

Didn't get a pic of it and I regret it... Had two tri-tips to split between four people so I cubed them, wrapped each cube in half-a-slice-of-bacon (so it guess it was Butter-Seasoned-Bacon-Wrapped-Tri-Tip-Cubes!!!) and it was awesome. Before I wrapped and toothpicked each cube I coated each cube on melted butter with Montreal Steak steasoning. Then I brushed the same on while on the grill.

Add a sliced ripe tomato as a side (olive oil, salt and pepper applied atop!!), and WOW, it was AWESOME!!

It's going to happen again VERY soon! Like the 4th! I was going to compete shrimp and wings....I think I just changed my mind!

After going with about 20 pounds of braised short ribs for company last week, I had a much smaller group to feed tonight. We went with salsa chicken over rice, and then hit the local ice cream place for desert.

Very similar to what I had. HOBO Dinner around the fire pit with my family. It was the first time for everyone except me. These were a staple 25 years ago when going camping/fishing with my high school buddies.

Never tried it. Is there a place you recommend getting it that isn't super expensive? I looked at Safeway but didn't seem like much for what you were paying.

You can buy in bulk at our natural food store. Not sure how cheap it will be if Whole Foods is your only option, though.

I tried it once and think I didn't prepare it right. Tasted like I was eating grass clippings.

It generally doesn't have a lot of taste like most grains. The main problem most run into with quinoa is not prewashing it. This can lead to a bitter taste. That being said, a lot of the boxed quinoa is advertised as prewashed, but I wash it anyway. To bring out the natural nuttiness of the grain, you can also toast it slightly before cooking.

KCUnited 07-01-2013 06:51 AM

Quinoa is great, not necessarily for its flavor, but as a filler. On Sunday's, I'll make a bunch of quinoa, grill a bunch of chicken, roast some vegetables, combine it all with some feta crumbles and put it in individual tupperware. Grab and go lunch to take to work a couple times a week or a quick dinner if pressed for time.

Yeah. Throw a bunch of it in a salad and it turns the salad into a meal. You can make it sweet or savory, and it soaks up about any flavor you expose it to. Extremely versatile ingredient that's healthy.

I know, I would have to live in San Fran or Los Angeles. That's the biggest downfall into making this decision. I really want no part of Los Angeles and I still haven't found a way to afford SF and go to school at the same time. Very complicated.
