ILB or even WR. DL and OLB would also be considerations depending on the talent. They're going to have DL shortage in a hurry and Dorsey likes to stay a year ahead. It's not a great draft for 5-techniques but if the right guy is there, that seems like a natural fit.

DJLN, would Chris Wormley be a consideration? Film on this guy is impressive.

Sure would.

I'm not convinced that's the way I'd go, but there are absolutely scenarios where Wormley would be the best combination of player/need on the board. I don't adhere to a pure BPA philosophy in the 1st round - you have to consider immediate impact as well.

Wormley/Jones bookends could be pretty nasty and if the draft fell in a way where there's no viable QB, Wormley could easily be the most impactful play there for us and there are enough teams that need DL (as well as enough money being paid to merely good ones) that you could say that a trade-back isn't worth the risk of losing him.

He'd be a definite consideration there; certainly ahead of any CBs.

Seems to me that Wormley has been flying under the radar as per discussions about who the Chiefs could take at 1.27. I think he's a real possibility given Dorsey's penchant for addressing upcoming free agent losses and the fact that both he a Reid seem to favor spending that first selection on linemen.

Another guy I don't hear much discussion about is TJ Watt. The kid is just now growing into his body and given that he's new to the DE/LB position, he had quite a year. I'd view him as another viable 1.27 selection.

If we passed on a QB, I wouldn't feel too bad about it if TJ Watt was the selection.

I have to admit that I've intentionally avoided Watt review and pretty much been viscerally opposed to him based on nothing more than his try-hard asshole of a brother and my belief that "TJ IS AWESOME" is at some level a lazy shortcut taken by sportswriters that haven't the time or inclination to give him an in depth review.

I'm going to continue to not give a **** about him unless we draft him. I can't even begin to speak to a single thing he does/does not do well on a football field.

Gaines,Acker and Mitchell are free agents in 2018 and Dorsey likes to plan ahead when drafting, so CB is possible.

We also have a mess at LB going forward.

Ford,March and Wilson are FAs at the LB position next year. DJ and Hali are FAs the year after that, both are older and need to be replaced sooner rather than later.

Mitchell's a RFA in '18 though so we can effectively ensure he goes nowhere. Acker doesn't appear to be part of the team's plan anyway and the team seems content with some combination of Nelson/White getting Gaines snaps at this pont.

I think we're a year early for the Chiefs to be going gung-ho at CB. I suspect they'll grab one because I think they view them in much the same way that prior regimes have viewed linebackers - they're versatile and even if they don't become impact starters they can become good STers.

They'll take a CB I'd imagine, but not in the 1st.

Oh he may well be.

But the visceral reaction made it pretty clear we had a homer on our hands. I don't know the guy from Adam but that's pretty obviously an Ohio State fan.

You didn't know Jefe and I were OSU fans? Sheeeit. Well, now you know. :)

Conley's been accused of rape: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...-police-report

DJ's left nut 04-25-2017 01:27 PM

If he can't get cleared, you can't take him in the 1st.

It sucks badly for the kid but it is what it is. Teams can't risk that these days.

Right before the rape accusations. Timing is everything.
