Two late firsts don't seem like the end of the world when you are drafting at the bottom. The next question is money. Hypothetically if you could dump smith(via trade)and foles, alongside the salary cap increase, this team is pretty close to taking that next step with a QB who is productive at the NFL level.

Two late firsts is a hell of a lot to give up for someone who would basically be in the same boat as a rookie in terms of knowing the offense. That's not taking into account the fact that even IF you could dump Smith onto someone you'd still have 9.7 million in dead money this year.

I still don't see a better solution. Mahommes is project who may not pan out. Hell Bray is a better prospect than Mahommes for short term success going by measurables and system knowledge.

9.7 million in dead money from Smith and Cousin wants to be paid 24 million per year.

we also wouldn't have 1st round picks to help offset our cap issues either.

We just need to draft and develop a QB ourselves. It saves huge money and cap room.

Fair enough.

Mike Lombardi is one of the biggest ****ing clowns in sports. He got his foot in the door by being detritus surrounding Belichick and Parcells, failed miserably, got canned, made a friendship with Bill Simmons, parlayed that into another gig (in Cleveland, no less), got his ass canned again, then worked as a consultant for the Patriots via favoritism, only to get canned yet again, at which point he moved back around Simmons to peddle his idiocy.

If he's giving you five steps to do anything, rest assured they will only destroy the franchise.

offer the redskins a 2nd and 5th and see what happens

If they accept then, before the Redskin's trade goes public, we go to Cleveland and offer them smith for a 2nd and 5th.

Don't lose the picks and just have to figure out the cap issues.

I would stay far, far away from any Michigan State qb, just as a general rule.

Yep, pretty much this! You are on top of this one!!!

We for sure are not going to win a Lombardi trophy with Alex "Stalemate" Smith.

Any reason why we wouldn't trade 2 firsts for Kirk Cousins? 810 was pitching the idea, and it makes sense.

I would take Cousins over Romo every day.

If Denver was smart they would go after him instead of Romo.

That's a great ****ing idea.

We would even upgrade in the draft picks by almost a whole round.

The dickbrain in the video smells of Cleveland.

The Kansas City Chiefs won't sign Romo because they're scared to take a risk at the QB position. It's really frustrating watching the 'dink and dunk' queen for 4 years. Don't want this mediocre asshole here anymore. I particularly don't want him mentoring a young QB.

Here's my 5 fixes:

1. Sign Tony Romo and trade Alex Smith to the Jets

2. Draft a 1st round QB-simple enough but it's time to take the leap. Trade up if need be.

3. Sign LB Donta Hightower from New England-cap space is a myth. Get this guy. Cut bait with Colquitt, Sherman and others to make it happen.

4. Draft RB Joe Mixon in round 2 or 3-he can learn from Reid and rehab himself like Tyreek Hill. Special talent that could slot in nicely. I prefer McCaffrey, but don't see him lasting.

5. Draft more defense (particularly DL, pass rusher and CB) and a LG.

Beerthirty 03-08-2017 09:24 PM

Trade Smith and go with a rookie would be good enough for me.

I agree completely; take whatever his 5 "fixes" are and do the exact opposite of that...

That guy is a clown
