Just one kids opinion

I like Manwich, but wife doesn't dig it so I don't get them.

Now you've "met" two. I can't stand sloppy joes. I can't stand the texture, the taste, and I hate trying to eat one without dropping meat back onto my plate.

Three now...

Count me as three I'll certainly eat one if it's only thing on table but a burger is so much more satisfying and less mess. The canned sauce is rank I liked the McCormick powder tomato paste and peppers better.

Ok 4 then...

Was never a big fan of crumbled meat sammiches, too much mess

Corn flour dusted rolls, or Kaiser rolls.

Slice sharp cheddar on bottom

Fresh Vidalia ringlets on top of meat.

Healthy scoop of standard pickle relish on top bun.

We use the grandma sloppy Joes recipe from bigoven.com

Pablo 09-02-2016 04:53 PM

They're just OK. Whether made from scratch or from the can, it's never a meal I look forward to. I never come away disappointed either. The wife enjoys them much more than I do.

Cheddar cheese, chopped raw onion and dill pickle slices with a little mustard to top it all off.

Those of you that eat traditional sloppy joes (not the casseroles), buns or regular bread?

As a carryover from childhood, sloppy joes must be served on regular bread cut in quarters diagonally - giving small triangle sandwiches.

They're fine. I cook hamburger until it just past pink and then drain it. Then I'll add a dry mix and cook it until very dark. Then I'll put the slop on a toasted bun and add as many hamburger condiments as I have on hand. I haven't made them since I stopped making dinner for my kids. That's all they really were; easy family meals.

I'm gonna try this.

FWIW, Manwich is pretty good on a slice of toast.
