Depends. My wife's mom is super skinny but she has an eating disorder.

My wife is on her way back to being skinny again. She got off of a medicine that caused her to gain weight, has quit drinking, and is going to the gym (hooray for me. All it took was 3 years of telling her to get off her ass and me starting to get into shape to get it done).

Her sister will never be thin. She is naturally a bigger girl (wider hips/shoulders) but her eating habits don't help.

In my case, my Wife is the complete opposite of her mother. I have no idea how that's gonna work out in the long run.

Wife = Tall & Skinny. Now she's tall and filled out, but not fat after popping out a kid.
