There is no excuse for it not to be better.

With Shields and Butler off the payroll, and the WS bringing in more cash for Glass to spend... this team should be able to get a much better DH, a quality starting pitcher, and resign Davis/Holland. Possibly even replace Infante.

Awesome run that my family will never forget.

I don't have the same crushing feeling I have after a Chiefs playoff loss. These guys took it to the wire and damn near won it in the 9th. Sure it would've been better if they would have won it but I'm damn proud of the way this team and the way they fought. I'm one proud Royals fan.

There is a sign for swing away. When he went 2-0, that should have been the first thing coming from the dugout.

I agree. But if the player is dead set on bunting him over, what do you do?

Normally I'd hate, hate bunting in that situation. But I see it. I feel better about getting two hits off Bumgarner then having to wait for a third. But who knows.

Bunting and stealing got us here. I had no prob with Esky bunting. The games we got away from the "small ball" are the games we lost.

You don't have to wait for a 3rd hit there. Esky hits it through the hole on the right side and we have 1st and 3rd with no one out. A double play gives us a run.

It was a great season and while I am little sad I am hopeful for the future of this team.

With that being said the Royals were the obvious better team the Giants just had the best pitcher. Without Baumgarner this series would have been over in 4 or tops 5.

Wish Gordon would've kept running.

He should have.

You don't have to get three hits, though:

Any combination of the following in order scores the run from first:

1) Productive out+ base hit
2) base hit + productive out
3) base hit + chicanery (wild pitch, etc.)
4) walk+two productive outs
5) walk+base hit

When Yost OK's the bunt he's likely getting the productive out part of the situation, but he's then relying on Aoki to be one of the two batters who need to get a hit, and Bumgarner owns Aoki.

It was just bad baseball, especially given that Escobar has speed and was running somewhat hot. It also eliminates almost any chance for a big inning.

I'd bet if you asked Bochy if he'd rather have Aoki and Cain w/ a runner at second and one out than a runner at first with no outs and Escobar, Aoki, then Cain, he'd pick the first every time.

I wish I could see a parallel universe where Gordon went home...just to see what would have happened. But I'm of the opinion that he would have been out by a lot.

To me, that decision is like having 4th and six inches from the 36 down three with six minutes left and electing to kick a field goal.
