What is the obvious reason? Final year of his contract isn't the time to extend him?

I'm glad you aren't the gm of my team letting guys just walk in fa

Of course it doesn't and he's not saying that. All he's saying is that Houston does not dominate good players week end and week out (yet). And, he is correct.

I'm not saying he is. He's definitely an ascending player with more room for improvement and has shown growth over the past 3 seasons. Right now, IMO, he's in the "really good" department. I want to see him take that next step into the "elite" category where he can at least occasionally dominate/fight on equal footing against the top OTs in the league.

Once Hali goes, do you trust Houston to take over the ROLB position and be better than or at least equal to Hali when facing the Elite OTs in the league?

I'm certainly not going to bet on a sophomore Ford in that role, that's for sure.

 You can read can't you? Or does saying what you want to say get in the way of your reading comprehension skills? I said,"The Chiefs need to use all options available to them. Meaning they need to do this on THEIR timetable NOT the players.

Now, here's where your reading comprehension plays a part - Where did I say ANYTHING about letting him walk in FA???

I now have another reason not to want you for a GM of my team - I want my GM to be able to READ.

Who cares? You go with the best pass rusher in that role.

Houston's skills in coverage are more suited for the current LOLB role he's in. If Ford is taking over for Hali while our pass rush doesn't miss a beat, why switch up those roles?

I'd be just fine with giving Houston an extension and keeping him at ROLB.

hey dumbshit you only have one franchise tag.

I can read well. But I have common sense too, something you are lacking.

What about that qb they just gave 2 2s for who is also going to be a free agent?

One is getting the chance to walk if we don't do something soon. Dumbshit

How much would you be willing to pay him?

I think the Browns kind of fudged things up with $40 Mil for Kruger. I'd say somewhere around $55-60 mil for Houston.

With that said, we can't really do anything with either Houston or Smith right now because of our cap situation. They're going to get rid of Flowers sooner rather than later in order to make room for these extensions.

Why the hell not? He's a top 5 OLB right now and getting better. He could have been on the right side from the beginning if it wasn't for Hali already being there.

You guys are nuts.

Mark my words:

Justin Houston will be the highest paid OLB in the NFL...whether it's KC or elsewhere that gives it to him.

ROFL - and now the name calling...Next You'll probably go bitch-slap your 2nd grade teacher for not teaching you how to read.

Common sense says BOTH Smith and Houston sign or one does and the other gets tagged. You're definitely NOT GM material. Maybe water boy...

Common sense has to look at our cap situation and think neither might sign during or after the season.

Owned? Yeah.

They better get one of them signed long term during the year, or else one of em is gonna walk.

BOTH guys are gonna want top dollar.

BullJunkandIron 05-27-2014 08:01 PM

What is he holding out? We need a poll with this thread. I would go with either hemroid or his Winkie that he supposedly burned on a bottle warmer.

Yeah let's let a cornerstone player on each side of the ball get to free agency at the same time.

At that point odds say one will be gone.
