He can't get punished by the NFL for this. What can they punish him for?

This is his 1st conduct issue. We'll see...

Laz was hoping Bowe was getting the death penalty.

Littering. Scott Pioli worked very hard to bring this issue to the forefront of the league.

Whatever they want.

Goodell doesn't have to accept the plea bargain as some sort of overriding final outcome. That'd be like saying Goodell would have to allow Hernandez back with open arms because the jury hung at 11-1 to convict.*

*Note that I'm not equating the issues, just noting the uselessness of pointing to the final criminal outcome as if it's dispositive.

PFT weighs in:

Quote:

Now the question is how the league office will treat Bowe. A marijuana offense typically results in a one-game suspension, although littering and “defective equipment” may not be enough to get Bowe in any type of trouble. Still, the fact that this case started with a marijuana arrest could result in Bowe being placed in the league’s substance-abuse program.

Not the same thing. Not even close. Hernandez has a formal murder charge against him.

They is no drug charge against Bowe.

BigMeatballDave 04-16-2014 05:15 PM

How can that be if he hasn't failed a drug test?

Because it doesn't fall under substance abuse. It falls under code of conduct.

That's fine, but did you read the PFT thing?

That kind of falls under the "Goodell can do whatever he wants" category.

You're confusing final disposition with initial charge. Bowe was initially charged with possession. Getting a standard first timer's break with the court doesn't change that, just like going to PTD doesn't mean you weren't initially charged with a crime.

I suspect the NFL will not suspend him, but will put him under more increased random drug testing and a fine.

Yep.

I don't see him getting suspended either. But they're going to grill him about it no matter what.
