Winning cures a lot of ills. Show us.

O.city 07-20-2013 01:34 PM

I think these types of attitudes are conducive to winning, but in the end, winning is all that matters.

They have a similar type of environment to what we had the past few years currently in NE and you don't see the fans flying banners, blacking out the stadium etc.

Winning makes everything ok.

After a long past due Peterson divorce and the whirl with the spoiled, family killing tramp. I'm not all that excited about Thanksgiving just yet.

JESUS ****ING CHRIST PEOPLE. We went 2-14 last year and now have a new regime that went out for the best QB available to improve the team the most, and they went and got him. Oh, you want a Super Bowl QB? So does every other single team in the league, an this year happened to be one of the worst groups of QBs available in recent memory, but we still managed to get the best one.

Chill the **** out and realize there is no way of creating a SB team in one offseason removed from the worst record in the league. What more could they have possibly done this offseason? Draft Geno? There is going to be at least 3 QB prospects next draft that are superior to Geno. It is pitiful the way some of you grown ass men bitch. All you can ask for is significant progress, and so far, all signs point towards this year being significantly more competitive/enjoyable than last.

We've already analyzed this.

There isn't.

FYP.

I'm done with 10-6 one-and-dones. I'd rather have more 2-12s than a decade of that garbage.

Exorbitant? What the ****? Have you seen the Chiefs second round draft history? In 2010, the Chiefs selected McCluster (who's been garbage) and Arenas, who was traded. What about such "gems" as Junior Siavii, Eddie Freeman, William Bartee, Kris Wilson or a second rounder for Patrick Surtain?

You have absolutely NO idea if the trade value was "exorbitant" because Alex Smith hasn't played a single down in Kansas City. Furthermore, 95% of this forum LOVED the results of the Trent Green trade, due to the fact that the Chiefs had such a potent offense, yet he guided the team to really only ONE playoff appearance which was a loss (Huard was the better QB in 2006).

For example, let's look at the NFL Value Chart, which I think is outdated, but it will at least give us a base for this conversation:

#12 overall: 1,200 points
#34 overall: 560 points

So, if Alex Smith guides this team to a 6-10 record this year (like Trent Green in 2001), the Chiefs will surrender a 3rd round draft choice, which would put the draft value at somewhere around 215 points. At that point, the Chiefs will have paid about 775 points, which is about 34% less than what they paid for Trent Green. If they go 8-8 or better, the value equals somewhere around 400 points, or 960 in total, which is about 20% less than the Green trade. Either way, it's much less than the Chiefs paid for Green to play for six seasons and lead the Chiefs to no playoff victories, yet people still revere him.

Regardless, IF Alex Smith leads this team to a single playoff game during his tenure, it could be considered to be a much better trade than the Trent Green trade, especially considering the fact that the Chiefs passed on Drew Brees, who is a probable Hall of Famer.

Damn you and your facts.

Like many on this board, I wasn't a big fan of the Smith trade. He's a lot better than anyone we had on the roster, so that's an immediate upgrade. I'd like to see what Reid and company an do with him before I pass final judgment. If we're 8-8 this year and we have to give up a 2nd, so be it, it's a hell of a lot better than 2-14 with Cassel being the starter and no competition.

Dane, you know better than to bring good, solid logic to a silly emotional pissy fight! :) Now the other side will have to resort to calling you names to continue their silly argument!

If we win playoff games those picks don't matter. However we can't use the chiefs history of whiffing on 2 rounders against this regime same as we can't use previous qb trades.

If the Chiefs went 2-14 for the next decade, they'd probably be sued by the county and looking for a new city when their lease expires.

I'm sorry but that's just absurd.
