This. We need to finalize Bowe and Albert's deals. I'd also look into anyone else going FA next year. I'm not sure on the full list.

Wonder if he's counting the $20 million they rolled over from last year.

link?

Ive heard stuff to the contrary going back before last year and it would be nice to see him make some remarks that are positive about his thoughts on staying in KC.

I heard he wanted to go to NY from the same guy that told me about the Haley finger pointing thing with McDaniels.

I hope you aren't just assuming...it would give me a sigh of relief in a sense.

Otherwise, I am just taking it for granted that he will NEED to be franchised and that in two years he will want out.

Hillis can walk -- someone will over pay for him. Dorsey can walk too, he's too expensive and can be replaced.

Albert's the big fish, and will probably need to be franchised.

Lilja.... well. He may not even be on the team by this time next year.

Albert has been very average at his best, and I'd expect him to command a very average contract. In my eyes, he's anything but a big fish.

I'd wait to give him a new contract. Either he has yet another average year, or he plays very wheel and makes himself a few million more bucks.

Would you really franchise Albert? Do you think he deserves that kind of money?

BossChief 03-18-2012 05:25 PM

Albert turned a corner last year and I think his physical tools matched up with his mental preparation is something that isnt gonna go away.

He faced a premier pass rusher every week and had a great year.

Id give him a 5 year deal for franchise LT money right now.

Something like 5/45-50 is what I expet him to be looking for after this year...and Id give it to him.

Mr. Laz 03-18-2012 06:22 PM

i would think that Albert would be pretty happy now that Haley is gone.

BossChief 03-18-2012 06:27 PM

Good point, Laz.

The last time I heard stuff about that was when Haley was still here.

Currently:
Albert 3.218MM
Bowe 9.443MM
Dorsey 5.586MM

We have 15MM in space left currently and can anticipate spending about 5MM of that on rookies. We also have to be wary of the fact that we lose 20MM in cap space next year. If I am the Chiefs, I look at trading Dorsey, trading down and drafting Brockers in the first and resigning Bowe and Albert each at about 5 years/40MM.

Good luck with resigning Bowe to that deal after Vincent Jackson got his 5 year 55 million deal.

Vincent Jacksons Stats since 2005

2005 - 3 rec 59 yards receiving 0 tds
2006 - 27 rec 453 yards receiving 6 tds
2007 - 41 rec 623 yards receiving 3 tds
2008 - 59 rec 1098 yards receiving 7 tds
2009 - 68 rec 1167 yards receiving 9 tds
2010 - 14 rec 248 yards receiving 3 tds
2011 - 60 rec 1106 yards receiving 9 tds

Total - 272 rec 4754 yards receiving 37 tds

Dwayne Bowes Stats since 2007

2007 - 70 rec 995 yards receiving 5 tds
2008 - 86 rec 1022 yards receiving 7 tds
2009 - 47 rec 589 yards receiving 4 tds
2010 - 72 rec 1162 yards receiving 15 tds
2011 - 81 rec 1159 yards receiving 5 tds

Total - 356 rec 4927 yards receiving 36 tds

So explain to me why Bowe is not worthy of a contract like that when all numbers are similar except for the fact that Bowe did this all in a 5 year period compared to Jacksons 7 years in the league.

Bowe is worth more than 40 MM. He deserves the same deal that Jackson got maybe more.

He deserves big money.

Yes he does. Haley did a great job with him. He actually deserves a 5 year deal worth 60 million in my opinion.
