My favorite, and mostly over-looked BBQ joint is Woodyard's.

Each place kinda has their specialties... IMO, Arthur Bryants does a lot really well, Gates has the best burnt ends, Jack Stack has the best beans, OK Joe's is probably best overall....

I'm a HUGE fan of BBQ chicken.

Woodyard's has great BBQ chicken.

Hey I'm from New Orleans and living in Houston.

So if I was to go to KC (never been) where should I eat BBQ first?

There use to be a BBQ place at Vivion and Antioch road in the northland called Marty's BBQ.

Now it has at I-29 and 64th street can't wait to try it.

Good place to eat years back.

Jack stack is pretty good.

Not Jack Stack. That place is for people that think BBQ should be eaten with forks.

I like Jack Stack a lot, but it definitely is more of a nice restaurant that serves really good BBQ than a pure "BBQ Joint."

Bull ****ing shit. Whether it's eaten with a fork or your hands, good BBQ is good BBQ.

I'll admit, most of my opinion on Jack Stack is from their burnt ends. I'm on record here for hating their burnt ends - not because it's bad food, but because THEY'RE NOT BURNT ENDS! It's cubed brisket, and that ain't burnt ends. It's actually good BBQ, just don't get their burnt ends. :harumph:

The last time I had the burnt ends at OK Joe's, they were terrible. Same thing with Gates.

Hugely disappointed in the quality of the food at both recently.

Bummer... I haven't had any at a restaurant in aboit 5 years. SC and AL barbecuers know nothing of the KC delicacy.
