You said so yourself you think Geno needs time if he's going to be a great NFL QB.

Guess what the Chiefs have that NO OTHER desperate and QB-deprived team has in this draft?

Time.

Kansas City is PERFECT for Geno. And frankly, I think Geno is perfect for Kansas City and Andy Reid. This was a match made in heaven, and if the Chiefs are too stupid to recognize the potential here, then they truly are no better than ***** or Carl, regardless of whatever QB mess they inherited.

Geno would be coming from the same offense that Reid is planning to run.

Reid is the master of qbs. And Geno could improve so much.

Time we have time. Come on Dorsey you know what to do.

Why are the Chiefs the only team with time?

Bingo.

Would Aaron Rogers be Aaron Rogers if he was thrown into a David Carr type of situation versus sitting for three years and digesting the NFL speed, defenses, routes, etc?

Geno has every tool you want from a high level NFL QB prospect. The Chiefs signed Alex Smith, who gives you two years to bring this team up to speed. Geno learns the league behind Smith, runs the scout team, does his film study, understands the coverages, the defenses, the player tendencies. He's the guy who is going to be in the film room getting ready for his time.

It's a perfect situation. The best QB for the system, the time to bring him along properly and the GM and coaching staff to help him get there.

No ****ing brainer pick.

GENO!

Because the signing of Alex Smith gives you approximately two years of solid QB play while bringing Geno up to speed.

Oakland, Buffalo, Jacksonville, Jets, Arizona don't have that luxury. (Palmer is the closest, but he's 10+ years in the league and even the Raiders jettisoned him for only a seventh rounder.) They don't have a guy of Alex Smith's level to immediately help right their floundering ships.

By picking Geno, those teams are more likely than not playing Geno much sooner rather than later.

The Chiefs have the luxury of bringing him along and making sure he's ready to go when his opportunity arises. Dorsey has that luxury after doing so with another very talented QB with good NFL upside in Rogers. The Chiefs can select Geno #1 overall and the majority of fans would be happy to see him learn the right way while Alex Smith starts for the next two years versus thrusting him into the starting position immediately.

Pretty savvy move by Dorsey/Reid in getting Alex Smith and having the potential to draft a huge upside player at the most important position on the field in Geno.

Someone on one of the NFL draft sites said something interesting. He said the Chiefs are the best team I can remember to have the first overall pick. This is a good roster, but it'll need significant turnover in three or so years. It think that's why Reid and Dorsey are taking the approach the seem to be taking. Reid isn't trying to rebuild the team, he's trying to strengthen its weak points and win now. I'm not saying they won't draft Geno, but I don't think they're willing to take lumps as he learns. He'll have to do his learning off the field.

And Geno loves thst. You know how hard he studies and how much film he watches. Genos sleeps and breathes football. Its not about the money for him. He loves the game.

Absolutely.

And I think that's a good thing.

They bring in Alex Smith to immediately help reverse a "culture of losing" problem that rapidly developed under Pissholi. He's a solid QB. He's capable of putting wins on the board, especially at home. This team needs that.

And by drafting Geno, it provides a foundation for the future of this team once that systemic negativity is removed.

This Chiefs team reminds me a lot of the 49er's team prior to the arrival of Harbaugh. A ton of talent but they got caught up in the negativity of having idiots and egocentric assholes in managerial positions. Neither Dorsey nor Reid are that type of guy and many players have already stated that both are guys who you want to play for because you have to earn their respect versus demanding you respect them for no other reason than the title on their business cards.

And I firmly believe that when Reid said he was going to help get Alex Smith into the Hall of Fame, it wasn't as a player. The guy has been noted as being a veritable coach on the field and has played through some of the worst situations I've seen a QB been put through during his Niners time. Unless Reid sees Alex Smith as an equivalent to Kurt Warner, I think that the guy is going to make a pretty damn good coach eventually and by working under Reid for the next two years is going to be as good in terms of building his potential as a coach as it will be for building Geno's potential as an All-Pro level quarterback.
