Maybe thats who Glass plans on putting in RF in a year or two?

2018 cannot get here soon enough!

Will the Tigers go after Dickey now?

Maybe the Royals should pre-emptively make another play for R.A.

Somebody on Royalsboard floated an idea of Cain, Crow and Ventura to the Mets for Dickey.

So we would put out 2 below average players in CF and RF?

That's the huge drawback -- Dyson in CF. With Lough (?) or Willy Taveras as the backup.

Unless Glass allows Dayton to sign Michael Bourn. :D

Cephalic Trauma 12-13-2012 05:25 PM

What if we put together a package for Dexter Fowler?

Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale

The #Cubs, who thought they had a deal with Sanchez, are still waiting. The #Tigers are indeed being given last chance to match.

Look's like Bob jumped the gun.

Wow that would be a terrible move for us. Cain is our starting CF and we have nothing backing him up. Dyson isn't very good. Crow is a key part of our pen which was our 1 big strength last year and he will give us 60-70 quality innings. Ventura is a definite major league talent (prob in the pen). He profiles very closely to Kelvin Herrera who was nails last year. This kinda move would severely weaken us overall.

Losing Cain is the biggest hit, without a doubt.

I wouldn't hesitate to move a bullpen arm to shore up RF (or even 2B). Deal from strength to address a weakness. We have a deep pen, and at least theoretically, we now have a starting staff that can get to the 7th (sted of being yanked by the 6th).

Plus, if there's one thing Moore has demonstrated at the ML level, it's that he can build bullpens. He traded Ramirez and Nunez and was able to replace them. To that end, Juan Gutierrez is having a very good winter season in Venezuela.

Prison Bitch 12-13-2012 06:41 PM

Need to be careful with Herrera given his arm history. If we lost him, our pen looks thin. We don't have Broxton for four months this year either. Crow, Holland, Coleman, Collins - might not be all that solid. Hard to predict pens from one year to the next. Without Crow in there it's even weaker.

stonedstooge 12-13-2012 06:43 PM

Hopefully we won't need the pen as much this year. The bullpen boys did well last year, inspite of being out there for too many innings

Ordering up some Royals shirts for my parents and girlfriend for the spring training games. Baseball can't get here soon enough!
