It tastes good, sure.
But it's not in there w/ the others, for true representation. Ever been to Smokey Bones owned by the Olive Garden? it's pretty much the same as what I recall my experience w/ Jack Stack, was. JS was better, but their approach to bbq was/is about the same thing. JMO |

Gates=must try, true representation of the regions signature plate. slaw, beans and all. AB's=must try, true representation of the regions signature plate. potato-salad, beans and all. JS=ok sure - if you want an acoustically balanced upscale dinning room experience, w/ sides like cheesy-corn. |

But if you want to talk the best BBQ from the total menu and after my recent visit......I'll listen to arguments for OK Joe's. |

I love BBQ threads and opinions, there's just no way to really lose (unless you end up having to try that nothing-but-shit BBQ they have in TexAss [heavy on the Ass!!!])... I know when I get back from Sandy Eggo this coming Friday, I'm going to try to swing WAY OUT OF MY WAY and stop by Oklahoma Joe's...

I have an old video starring Jeff Stehney about cooking Q. It's interesting because it reveals secrets about how he does it. That being said, I'm sure he had to modify what he did in competitions to satisfy his customers at OK Joe's.
