Bray should be #2, and it's not even because he looks good, it's because Daniel looks like a practice squad QB

i think it's too soon for that, Bray still has ego issues

he needs to keep working hard to prove himself

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that Brays ball placement was perfect.

Honestly, if it was me, I would give the kid half the reps with the 2s going forward and if he continues to impress, I'd give him preseason reps with the 1st and 2s to see how he reacts.

I wasnt a big Bray fan in the draft, but the kid impressed the heck out of me today.

If nobody knew how much anyone was paid or how they were acquired, Bray might even be in a fight for the starters job.

Titty Meat 08-04-2013 11:58 AM

I asked Jay Binkley if Bray was NFL ready. He said absolutely.

On a slight tangent, how's his mechanics and footwork looking, and does it look like he's assimilating instruction properly. That's of course is the biggest area he needs to fix.

Pasta Little Brioni 08-04-2013 12:02 PM

We are due to stumble upon a player like that.

I'm not gonna act like I'm an authority on QB mechanics, but to me they looked just fine. He looked consistent yesterday and today.

Also, Andy Reid has been quick to walk out and point out flaws in the qbs and other players and all I saw was "nice throw kid" and stuff like that.

I am gonna be pissed if the kid reverts back to being sloppy at times like he did at Tennessee, but if he keeps putting up performances like the last couple days, Alex Smith better hope to god he doesn't struggle or get injured.

If he does, I doubt Bray gives the job back.

Again, I am basing these opinions on 2 days at camp with him playing with the 3s...but I am genuinely excited to have him on our team.

The guy looks like a first round pick out there. And a good one at that.

The Chiefs offense also showed promise in 9-on-7 drills, when rookie QB Tyler Bray stepped in and made the most of his opportunity, finding Chiefs WR Jamar Newsome down the left side for a big gain, before also hitting Newsome for a TD to end 11-on-11, near the completion of practice.

"He’s a down-the-field QB,” Newsome said of Bray. "He loves to throw the ball down the field and I love that too, because I’m a vertical guy."

Bray also connected with Chiefs WR Josh Bellamy on what was one of the best throws of the day.

"I thought he was going to throw it inside, “Bellamy said. “But, he went up top and when I looked up, I saw that it was a beautiful ball and I was like, ‘I have to make this one!’"

Bray described his day by focusing on what made the throws possible.

"Going down the field, the o-line was blocking great,” Bray said. “There was no one in my face; I was hitting short stuff, just deke and dunking, until we got to the goal line and tried to throw a fade to Bellamy, it kind of slipped out of my hands and I threw a bad ball and the next one came up, I threw it in the corner to Newsome and he caught it."

farmerchief 08-04-2013 04:44 PM

I've been reading all the reports on Bray, and he does appear to have some major upside. Undoubtedly he has the "Arm" to be a NFL Quarterback, it is just between his ears where he apparently needs lots of work. Man, I hope he knows he needs to work at his craft! It would be nice for the Chiefs to " finally" have a legitimate QBOTF on the roster! Already he's making the future of the Chiefs very exciting! I'm really looking forward to this season!

Meh...it will be a collectors.

He would have to have a reason to switch from 9... He was 12 in High School, 8 in College. He has never stuck with a number.

If he changes, he changes...I am one of the goddamn captains of this ship. I am not a follower. If you see a #9 Bray jersey this preseason...it is most likely me. Come up and say whats up Mr_Tomahawk. :thumb:

It's probably premature to say this with him not playing in any games against real competition, but IF he does do well I think Bray could've started for us last year with what they asked of the QBs then. Heck, he's probably a year away from being able to do what Alex Smith is/was asked to do with an offense.

You could make that argument for Geno as well I know, but it didn't happen, Bray did. We'll see how it goes.

I've been trying to understand it, but I can't. How does this guy fall out of the draft? I know there were some character question marks, but this isn't the first guy with an elite arm and character concerns and they don't become UDFA's. A lot of places has this guy as a first round talent. With QB being the most important position in football, how does a team at least not take a late round flyer on him rather than take come 7th round CB that never plays a down in the NFL. I don't get it.

Listening to a little of 610 over my lunch break, they had Fescoe on talking about todays practice and what the hilight was...paraphrasing because I was in my car:

"...well it was when Bray threw a pick-6 and Stanzi came back and threw a touchdown. The fans went crazy for that. Must have been a big Iowa crowd because that was a crowd pleaser. That was definitely the hilight of the day."

He then went on and said how he thought it would be very hard for Stanzi to make the team at this point and one touchdown pass wasn't going to move him up to 3rd on the depth chart.

This. He's not news because he's the solidified starter. He's expected to exceed.

If he starts sucking or something, then you'll hear about it.

In the case of Alex Smiff, no news is good news.

I think it's a non-story. Smith throwing picks is more noteworthy simply because it's not supposed to happen (based on his recent performance...). A good practice just means he's just doing what they're paying him to do.

As InChiefsHell said, no news is good news.

I do think it's a good sign in terms of getting him and receivers on the same page.

Teicher was just on 810 giving Bray a public ball washing. He just said what most have that he can make throws that no other QB on the roster can. On the money fades in the back of the end zone....No chance he isn't on the roster.
