Generally, anyone who didn't take any snaps in 2010 has to be added to the db manually. I add them as I get notified and have the time and don't announce the additions. I won't draft those players for at least one round, unless I happen to be the one that notices them missing before anyone else does.

I don't think Ben Tate is doing shit this year.

I added Thomas Davis to the draft pool a couple days ago, took a guard with 526 and then held my breath for 100 picks since I had traded 574 and 579. |

Same for Otah. |
I think autopick was turned off for the St Louis Spiders, they're 10 picks down.

Am I safe in assuming "Nick" Kaeding is supposed to be Nate? Nate is who I'm wanting to take at #781

Was there some database that you guys were able to pull names from in a semi-efficient manner, or is the player list a product of good ole data entry?
|
We bought the data from an outside source. I don't know if cdcox wants to share more right now or not. (In the long run, we don't want others buying it just to win their league, though it's not cheap.)
|
Eh, I don't need any more info. I was just curious how the database was populated.
|
Even with the purchased data, all of the rookies, kickers and punters had to be entered manually. So "Nick" Kaeding was my fault.
|
lol, someone just took Barry Richardson

If anyone is looking to trade down a few picks this round, send me an offer

whatll you give for 718

We're definitely drafting for depth now.

I pick a name, google it (because that's what I'm down to), and the articles are all the same. "Player X has been passed on the depth chart by Player Y, now it's a three way competition for the last spot with Player Z." The actual, real teams don't even know if some of the depth we'll be picking this week are making the roster. :D |
I'm pretty sure everyone I have drafted in the vet draft is a clear cut starter. Except for my backup QB, Flynn.

I'm going to attempt to get the Tacos caught up. This is gonna be brutal.

lol, the Tacos have Kelley Washington and Hines Ward.
Good luck, Peyton. |
I'm now at the point where I have to start eliminating positions because I'm already stocked up. That should make it easier, but I think it makes it harder.

I think I'd rather have two average backups than one good backup and one terrible backup....so I'll probably have to start drafting from positions that are drying up, or risk getting stuck with an awful backup. |

I'm also still seeing a few gems out there, but at positions I don't need. I'm pondering drafting them anyway just as trade bait, but that's risky. Any time someone offers me a trade I get paranoid that they know something I don't and are trying to take advantage of me, so I seldom make trades. |
How will guys that aren't playing the positions they're listed at be affected? For instance, Dumervil is listed at OLB, but will in reality be playing DE this year. Odder yet, Cassius Vaughn is listed at SS, but is playing CB (and actually always has).

There goes the first punter.

Print em...Barth.

Out of curiosity, what pick is L1 on?

We can't use our backup center or something? |
RE: KR/PR
If a guy can return kickoffs, will the engine allow him to return punts at a similar level, and vice versa? |

At this point there's a huge satisfaction in finding some player who looks promising and seems to have a starting spot.

It might be better to take a guy who doesn't see the field rather than a shitty starter if so. |

Turns out that most of the long snappers are not in the database. We'll skip them this year and work them in later.

Whew. That was going to be some tough research. |

Questions:
1368 total draft picks (1200 veteran + 168 rookie) / 24 teams = 57 players Will we be required to trim our roster to 53 players at some point? If so, will IR players count against the 53 or 57 man roster? |
Cdcox, did you get my PM?

League one people have pussed out. Over 130 picks behind league 2. 12 out of the last 20 picks on the clock.
League 2 should be done by mid-week. Could be done by Monday night. |

League 1 will be a league of super teams. |
So, what's the plan?
We're not getting through 300 picks in 2 days. |
Quote:
At least then if some under the radar phenom emerges during week 1, no one will be able to add them last minute. I'll see what I can do about 53-player roster management, but I don't feel like that is as critical to finish by kickoff. |
I think that sounds alright. I don't think it matters that much whether the draft finishes before the first games or not.
