Which clearly, you don't understand.

Do you believe that the total gross for a film is solely collected by the distributor?

Who cares?

It's going to be the highest grossing film of 2017.

That's a remarkable success.

And if I'm not mistaken, Disney demanded a higher percentage for TLJ.

According to the Wall Street Journal, theater owners have to agree to a serious and unusual set of terms in order to earn the privilege of showing the new Star Wars movie. First, Disney is insisting on a 65 percent share of ticket-sales revenue, up from a standard 55 percent asked by most Hollywood studios, what WSJ calls “a new benchmark.”

Yeah no one is denying this film isn't TFA.

Now compare it to Rogue One.

Why? That's an inappropriate comparison. The comparison is TFA to TLJ. Rogue One is irrelevant.

Putting in Marvel perspective: Ultron was a big drop from MTA on the domestic front, and you don't go comparing it to Ant Man.

Hammock Parties 12-30-2017 08:17 PM

OK, let's compare it to TFA.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi dropped 23 percent from last week. That's relatively small compared to The Force Awakens' 30 percent week three drop in 2015. It's also good news following last week's record-setting drop for The Last Jedi.
So it's currently doing BETTER than TFA, percentage-wise.

It's not dropping off as fast from week 2 Friday to week 3 Friday, but it's dropping from a much smaller spot and it only brought in a little more than half the money for the equivalent day. That's nothing to be crowing about.

You're making an ass of yourself on this, for no real reason.

~$180 million last week.

~$155 million this week.

Not really the picture of failure haters want to paint it as.

Down more than $200 million from TFA

So, yeah, it is the picture of failure haters want to paint it as. Now, if it starts to gain on TFA over the course of this next week, you may start to have a point, if the gain is substantial.

But, as of right now? It's a comparative disaster for Disney, because it's also underperforming globally at the moment (That may change a bit, as China's numbers won't kick in until January).

Hammock Parties 12-30-2017 09:16 PM

TFA is a ****ing unparalleled success that no sequel film could ever hope to match.

It's ludicrous to compare the two.

I mean god forbid a film doesn't make more than a billion dollars in 16 days. LMAO

Tell us about the expenses incurred for the new Star Wars Land in Disneyland and Disneyworld, and how we can justify dumping the OT in those parks and instead, focus on the new trilogy.

I’m anxiously awaiting your report.

This has nothing to do with box office receipts. What a strange post.
