Had himself a very nice game. he should be proud of what he did tonight.

Didn't notice him getting torched really so that’s great.

Underrated statistic to know: Justin Herbert's pick-six was a rare one. It's the only pick-six this century that came in the red zone in the fourth quarter of a tied game. |

I cant wait to see his full game break down. I know he wasn't perfect but he seemed to be in good position and attempt to make plays on the ball often. when he was on the screen he never looked lost to me.

Andy as a play designer, certainly top 3. Overall coaching, he's lost more big ones than he's won with gaffes that get him mercilessly crucified by media and fans for the two franchises he has coached for. Andy is gonna get you a shot at the big game. Will he win it is always gonna be in question when you see things like the second half of last year's title game, relentlessly passing into a 3 man front with a qb that is rattled for the first time in his career.
Steve Spagnuolo, this guy is feast or famine. I don't see him as a top 10 guy at all. Top 10 guys don't field historically bad defenses the first two months of the season and surrender a 100% redzone td rate. Especially when a good portion of that is self inflicted. Many decisions he made last year from personnel, to playcalls, were fireable offenses. Chris jones out of position looking like a fool. Sorensen and Niemann, we all saw what happened. Jamarr Chase set a rookie record being singled up all game, and we lost the game because of a zero blitz on 3rd and 26. Just monumentally stupid football. Took his time about adjusting the coverage on Williams last night. That adjustment needs to happen faster in games. How can you not see when a guy is on fire against you early? |

No one gets in their own way like the Chargers do. It's amazing. No matter who the coach is, QB is, or other players are, Chargers will always Charger. All you have to do is keep the game close and they'll manage to shoot themselves in the foot and you can capitalize. |

Right now he has Chris Jones, LaJarius Sneed, two ascending but still raw linebackers and a bunch of question marks (youth, new pieces, useless Frank Clark and some JAGs). I mean I don't think there's a DC in the league that could field a better unit with this current group two games in. |

Feel free to peruse those losses and the level of coaching and decision making on the sidelines in those contests. Andy is a genius play designer that can flat out scheme players wide open. Andy gets you a shot at the big one. That's more than fair to say, and very few coaches can consistently get you that shot. The guy has been in 8 title games and 3 superbowls. That's a GREAT coach. The LEGENDARY coach some on cp believe him to be, would have multiple rings and more superbowl appearances. There's not a single one of you that isn't going to have an asshole puckered so tight you couldn't drive a toothpick up it with a sledgehammer pregame of the next AFC Title game. Nobody is going to be saying this is a lock to win after that Bengals debacle. Anyone that does say that has as bad of a memory as those saying a game is over in the third with 15 under center. |

I don’t know how you could rank many head coaches above Reid. There aren’t too many throughout NFL history that you can justify ranking above him. |

Fenton didn't look that good. Start the dude. |
Quote:
I'm not sure Reid was being referred to as a top 10 all time coach. He's certainly top tier for the coaches in the league currently. If you're talking just wins, sure. Big Red has a lot of wins. I don't remember being pumped about our win total after playoff eliminations though. Don't think that's a thing people hang their hat on. However, there are 13 NFL coaches that have won multiple superbowls, and so with the championship being the pinnacle achievement, those 13 coaches are ahead by default. He's gotten his teams in position to have a shot. His record though, isn't good. 3-5 in title games, and 1-3 in superbowls. Although I defended him In his most recent sb loss, the numbers stand. It is what it is fellas. A losing record when the lights are brightest. Awesome play designer. Meh in huge games that come down to big decisions. |

Underrated play that may not get much notice.
Watson's tackle on on 2nd and 10 inside the 1 minute mark was freakin' enormous. A) He kept him in bounds so Oakland had to burn their last timeout. B) By bringing up 3rd and 1 (the Adams play that was overturned) with no timeouts, the Raiders needed to throw to convert. If Renfrow gets out of bounds to save that timeout, the Raiders almost certainly run it to convert then use the timeout. And obviously if he converts the first, that changes everything. Now Renfrow made it possible by unnecessarily going to ground (I thought the ball placement from Carr was fine), but for Watson to get up there and wrap his ass before tackling him to ensure he couldn't pull himself out of bounds or get that extra yard to convert is just damn strong play. Honestly, there's a really good chance we lose that game if Watson doesn't stick him as soon as he gets there to both prevent the 1st down AND keep him in bounds. Really a big time play that nobody will remember going forward. |
Mentioned this in the Joshua Williams thread - if McDuffie lives up to his 1st round pick then Veach snagged 3 good CBs in this draft. 3 CBs who are going to be on rookie deals for the next 4 years.

Yeah Cook came really close to breaking up the play.
|
Quote:
I think Bush is a steady player but with what we have invested into Cook - we need him to be able to develop into a guy who can do that job and make sure that he's NOT late to close that space because we got lucky there. Carr put a little too much on an extremely easy throw. A faster read/react there and you're able to make a play on the ball rather than rely on Carr overcooking it. Because the elite guys are going to make that pass 9 times out of 10. |

We see that kind of thing fairly often, I think. Between picks and fumble recoveries in that kind f situation to close out a game, some guy decides to be a hero and literally fumbles the game away. It's actually another great example of the level of coaching we have in Andy and his staff. The defense practices those kinds of situations every week, just like the offense is always practicing 2-minute drills for a TD, or a FG, or just to convert a 1st down or whatever. That's why we rarely see our team make those kinds of mistakes or risky plays in those situations. Rare enough that we're kind of shocked when they don't play smart football. |

Looked like it was coached that way, so I'm fine with it. Quote:
