I've never been a big X-Men fan but I think every trailer I've seen looks amazing. This feels like what Snyder wanted Affleck's Batman to be. Seems like several reviewers so far think this is the best comic-book related movie since The Dark Knight. That's pretty high praise.

Yep...I'm a big Wolverine fan and love Hugh Jackman as him. This will be the best I'm sure. Got my tickets for imax

ThaVirus 02-26-2017 09:25 PM

How do you guys not like X Men? Maybe they weren't so big in the 70s when most of you were growing up, I guess..

I grew up with that 90s animated series. Like most things 90s it hasn't aged for shit but damned if it doesn't define my childhood. And dat theme song doe.

X Men was always in my top 3 along with Batman. Then the Raimi Spider-Man flicks came out and Spidey took over.

ThaVirus 02-26-2017 09:27 PM

They're so diverse too. So many characters and abilities to choose from. I don't even give a shit about probably more than half the people who have suited up as an X Man, but Wolverine, Gambit, and Nightcrawler are awesome. Cyclops can be cool sometimes though he's too straight edge. Magneto is a ****ing badass. Apoc, Juggernaut, and sentinels are awesome villains.

Love that shit..

I hated that X Men cartoon for one reason alone. I swear it felt like 95% of the times it aired on Saturday morning it was a damn rerun. First, they loaded it up with tons of commercial breaks and so by the end of the show it felt like it was about 10 minutes long. The upcoming episode preview felt like it was about a quarter in length of the episode you just watched. I can't stress enough how much that show's airing of new episodes sucked!!!

If you start reading the X-Men with the "Mutant Massacre" and follow through to about 2006 you'll love them.

I really wish they would have made a movie out of the their time in Australia after Roma revived them.

They couldn't be detected by technology (cameras, night vision, heart monitor, etc) and they went on the offensive.

considring people are saying it might be oscar worthy and 96 percent on rottom tomatoes, i highly doubt its going to be a bad movie. If a movie is bad, it will get slammed by the critics. Im not saying that they are always right but with a rating that ****ing high.; Yeah.

Never watched much or any animated action or superhero stuff.

But X-men and Secret Wars was about the deepest I went into comic books.

Wolverine and The Thing [when he struck out on his own in Secret Wars] were my two favorite comic book characters. I liked the powerful surly loners.

Required knowledge:

1. Wolverine is a mutant who has been around for a long time, and one of his key powers is that he regenerates all wounds at a very quick rate. And a long time ago someone coated his bones with adamantium, the strongest known metal, to make him even tougher in a fight.

2. Professor X is the world's most powerful psionic mutual -- telepathic powers. Can control people's minds etc.

You're good now. Seriously, it's basically a stand-alone, and it's awesome. ****ing GO!

Completely agree.

kysirsoze 03-09-2017 10:52 AM

I wish more comic adaptations were stand alone like this. Just tell a great story with great characters and make a shit ton of money. Repeat. Don't set up for a sequel or try to build a cinematic universe. Just make good movies.

Don't get me wrong, I love the MCU, but DC and Fox trying and failing to pull it off has me frustrated. In fact even THE MCU has an expiration. Just make great stand alone stories and people will come in droves.

The casting was just perfect. It's hard enough to cast young actors let alone one who has to speak spanish and doesn't have a large verbal role.

That kid was amazing. She had to play tough, sensitive, English, Spanish, mute, ass-kicking, and they picked a girl who looked eerily like Jean Gray to boot.

I think FOX and Mangold were kinda stuck. They obviously wanted to create a stand alone pic as much as they could, but they were still kinda tied to the entire X-Men film universe. For the most part it worked pretty good, but it brought up alot of questions too....like what happened to the rest of the X-Men??

Either way, i much prefer low key superhero flicks like this one instead of some huge CGI "lets save the world" flick like X-Men Apocalypse.

The X-Men comic book book bit was pretty funny and meta.

They dIed st the westchester incident everyone alluded to and Charles remembered right before x24 waxed him.

Personally I'm glad they focused on the story not the details.

Has there ever been a character in film history that has suffered as much physical pain as Wolverine? That guy has been on the receiving end of a shit ton of torture and maimings over the years.

1. The atomantium was put in in the 80s IIRC much closer to modern time. He wasn't born with that 200 years ago. My grandma smoked for like 50 years. It's reasonable to think you can live with heavy metal poisoning for 40.

2. They only put the metal on her claws I think. Left the rest out. They figured out it was poisoning him.

That corn that was being produced by the factory farms that shut off the guys water put in a gene that suppressed the X gene. That's why there were no more. They didn't want any competition for their test tube mutants.

I had rear somewhere that the idea was from X3, but it was an additive to the HFCS that targeted the X gene.

Actually, the adamantium has been in his body only for around 50-60 years, but we're not exactly sure how old he is. He's about 225 years old, right? Wasn't he a child during the Civil War? Maybe his healing factor had reached the end of his abilities apart from the metal in his body, who knows?
