Why? I agree it looks better but if making the playoffs and losing every year was good enough we would all have been satisfied with the 90's Chiefs. Moral victories only exist in lowers levels like college. They don't exist in pro sports and being in the middle sucks. Being the champ is all that matters. Everyone else sucks. Perennial playoff contenders I respect, even if they don't make the big game. It gets tenuous when it's a constant one and done, but it's more respectable to me than 5 years of suckitude, then a playoff run, then a return to the bottom of the barrel. I'd rather root for the Chiefs, Chargers or even Bengals than the likes of the Rams or Bucs, certainly the Raiders.

Chiefs, Bengals, and Cowboys push the edge of making the playoffs without a lot of respectability based on their playoff futility, but still making it regularly is respectable.
