I use ABP. I saw it and disabled it for CP.
|
Well, whitelisting CP in ABP has one annoying side effect - when you open a thread to the first unread, it pops down to the ad first and then jumps back up to the post once the ad loads. Small price to pay to help Kyle, but still annoying.

So when I got home I found out when I cloned my drive to my SSD it disabled my adblock, so that's why I didn't see the white text, and the ads where so unobtrusive I didn't even notice~

Using Chrome Version 37.0.2062.103 m
on windows 7 timewarner wired connection and yes I did see it. |
Thanks again for all the feedback, I'll leave this stickied for another week then someone needs to remind me to unstick it... no chance I'll actually remember. :D
|
Ok, so now random words and phrases are underscored and highlighted. If I hover the mouse over them, I get some link that relates with said word or phrase?

So, if that is happening to you, it is most likely something on your computer causing it.... I'd scan for malware ASAP. |

Is it just me or do the ads make this website choppy as ****?
I turned my adblock back on and refreshed the page and its smooth as butter, turned it back off and refreshed and its choppy. And I've got a top of the line custom build PC. EDIT: Just loaded the page in Chrome and its not choppy with the ads, maybe its a Firefox deal. Anyone else notice it being choppy with FF? |
Hey Kyle!!
Can you help me un**** up my account? |

I whitelisted a while back and today the notice started showing up anyway. I'm staring at the ABP icon and it's grayed, and it shows this site as still whitelisted.

I was wondering why I was ending up in the wrong thread so much. Stopped surfing so fast for a sec and saw the line shift/notice. |

No change. Guess I'll just slow down clicking for a while.

Turning off AdBlocker has had the side effect of killing the audio in select YouTube videos. I t's related to whether or not the video is playing through FLASH or HTML5.
|
I have a better idea, just block the website to those who run ad blocker unless they pay to opt out of them.
|
So here is something new. Site is whitelisted. I see ads at the bottom, no notification at the top. However, I get duplicates in my history of the same page I am looking at. If I click the back button, nothing happens. I think it has something to do with Autopager. Right now, if I look at the pages on my back button, it lists this same page twice.
If I remove the whitelist, it goes back to normal. |

Blocker still works. <script status="whitelisted" id="yarip-default-script" type="text/javascript">var yarip = { $: function(xpath) { var arr = []; var xr = document.evaluate(xpath, document, null, XPathResult.ORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE, null); if (xr) for (var i = 0; i < xr.snapshotLength; i++) { var e = xr.snapshotItem(i); if (e && (e.nodeType !== 1 || !/^yarip-/.test(e.id))) { arr.push(e); } } return arr; }, run: function(fun, xpath) { var arr = this.$(xpath); if (arr.length > 0) fun.call(this, arr); } }</script><script status="whitelisted" id="yarip-element-script_www-chiefsplanet-com_0" type="text/javascript">yarip.run(function (array) { for (var i = 0; i < array.length; i++) { var element = array[i]; console.debug("Found element:", element); } }, "//div[@id='1412308378175']"); </script> |
So I whitelisted on my home PC and now getting video ads popping up at the bottom of my screen.
Doesn't happen on my work PC. Edit: Also, getting the inline text ads. |

So my work antivirus keeps giving off a phishing alert and gives this URL

checking in!
Nothing here man, still. |

I can see the ads, glad to support the site. But when I'm on my i get directed to the playstore sometimes for no apparent reason...
|
I clicked "Yes I can see it" by mistake. I see no text about ad blockers at the top of my page. Checking internally...
|
Finally got this site white-listed. Had a weird problem but all is good now. :D
|
Austin could you tell me what I have to do to post a thread. Thanks
|
Quancast advertising cookie listed as a tracker cookie on this page.

I just turned mine back on. I started getting redirected to a fake java update. Anyone else getting that?

For Chrome users, i recommend using the free extension Ghostery.
It's similar in functionality to no script but works for cookies. allows you to pick and choose which cookies to accept for which site with settings for each(temporary, permanent) easy to use |
Thanks for the heads up, I'll go see if I can block that ad from showing.
|
okay i disabled it for this site. this is literally the ONLY site i have it disabled for. If there are any pop ups or pop unders then i'll enable it again. Respect my pc and i respect your website. Fair enough, right?

And I had to reformat a hard drive because of it. It was early in the morning and I clicked to update. Bad idea. It had the Pepper virus in it. |
Unfortunately so did I, now got some virus. I ran malwarebytes and its still there. I know nothing of computers. Any suggestions?
|
Quote:
What happens is this.. you get malware from the web (unless you run malwarebytes and keep on top of things), that malware will create popups and what not that sometimes key off from ads or other things (making it appear to you that it comes from a website you are on when in fact it is caused by the malware) some of those popups have downloads that contain virii. |
Ran Hitman and took care of it, thanks.
|
I'm not going to read back all of this thread, so this is probably just a repeat, but....
It's not just adblockers that your change impacted. It's noscript, as well. The only way I can get rid of that delayed alteration to the page is to allow for googlesyndication as an exception to noscript. |
I don't have any adblocker but the script is showing up and threads don't open....

Sorry had to step away again...its only on one thread...strange...and I see ads on that thread like all others..Ill try with firefox.
Same on FF...Its in the thread Ferguson Decision... It opens to post 1892 and no further. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. |
Quote:
I have that issue in that thread as well - no other threads. I've got chiefsplanet.com whitelisted in AdBlock, but for some reason whenever I go into that Ferguson Decision thread, it pops up at the top and says: "You have an ad blocker enabled! Please whitelist us and support ChiefsPlanet Click here for instructions" Even looking at the top on that page it shows that AdBlock isn't enabled. Not sure what happened after post #1892. I did report it a couple days ago. |
FYI - that thread seems to work fine in IE, but not in Chrome or FF.
|
Actually, I take that back. I can get to the last page (posts #1906 to 1912), but the moment I go back to the page before, it stops at post #1892 again.

I'm not sure of all the proper lingo but I'm on my iPhone, and many times after I submit "view first unread" after opening a thread, the window changes to the proper page, but while it's loading suddenly the whole page goes to an advertisement. I hit back and the page I want to see is there.
It just did it on the "NFL can't pass up on Dallas vs green bay" thread. Went to a good housekeeping page, or ad. I assume this has something to do with the cowgirls...... |

Mods, please fix somehow. It happens to me every few hours it seems.

I've had that happen to me once as well. Can't remember if it was my laptop (Chrome) or my phone (Android) though.

I just installed AdBlock Plus and the redirects stopped completely.

I'm blocking the ads as I find them, unfortunately the issue is on Google's end and they haven't done crap to fix it yet. Another day or two and I should have them weeded out. And hopefully Google will get off its ass and fix the hole in their code. |

But at least the ads are still showing down at the bottom of the page. They really are not obtrusive enough to warrant ABP.
|
Quote:
Do you have another browser you don't use normally? If so, you can empty out all cookies on that browser and see if the frequency stays the same. It shouldn't unless the ads are targeting certain IP based on geography. (which would be very odd indeed) |
