It's hard to be a poor and angry rapper after you've made millions. Same thing happened to Xzibit (his first two albums are classics). After these guys lose the chip on their shoulder they don't have much to write about.

What you say makes perfect sense. He isn't exactly on the "Rock Bottom" anymore, but that doesn't mean he can't come with good lyrics.

Always seemed like emo rap to me.

"My life sucks because of my mommy and my ex..."

MTG#10 08-27-2013 09:07 AM

That was bad. Hopefully that is the weakest track on the album, otherwise its going to be shit.

The EP with Royce da 5'9" was banging. He was on point for that one but he was also playing against Royce. The lyrics were nothing ground breaking but the technicality of it was great.

I think Em is trying to be too many things at this point and really has no direction.

After a second listen; this song is still pretty ****ing weak.

This had better be the absolute shittiest track off of that album if he hopes to replicate MMLP.

He's setting himself up for failure with that title. I'll be hoping for the best though. If we could get an album that's even half as good as the original MMLP then it's a win.

This exactly. I think it's impossible for him to match the intensity that put SSLP and MMLP over the top. That said, he is still a ****ing awesome lyricist and his albums are usually worth having. Encore was bad, but I even liked Relapse. Not his best but there are a few amazing tracks on that album.

Pablo 09-01-2013 05:30 PM

Love him, or hate him, this track is proof that this dude is the best rapper in the game today and no one really wants to even try to touch him. I feel sorry for the mutha****a that tries to lay that one back down.

Pretty impressive song.

Pablo 10-20-2013 09:13 AM

That track gives me hope that this album can be very good despite the first single. Like sorter said, it doesn't have the MMLP vibe I'd hoped for so far, but that was a pipe dream to begin with.

That's some pretty lofty expectations for naming his follow up in really his 1st major album that is going to be highly promoted, pushed out during the buy holiday season, and supported by a large scale world tour. Maybe the time away gave him some good material to put together a full album?

I'm hoping it will turn out to be great, because who wouldn't like to have another classic rap album that's worth listening to for longer than it simply being in the top 40 and in heavy rotation on the radio- which pay for play has gone overboard.

If it fails to live up to expectations or its album title so be, I'm sure Dr. is just putting his final touches on The Chronic 2- or he'll have something ready in the next decade once he stops playing headphone entrepreneur. Plus, Snoops got The Dogg Pound 2 coming down the line.

I wonder if it's gonna be more mellow indicated by the MM title as opposed to say The Eminem Show- which has one of my favorite tracks on and is a great song- Till I Collapse.

It's all over the place if you're familiar with Mac Lethal, both is songs and his popular fast rap YouTube videos. The most obvious part where Em is actually just biting Mac Lethal is the part of Rap God that starts at 2:05, where he's repeating the phrase "______-looking boy." That's a straight bite from Mac Lethal's joke song, "Lookin' Bro."

In58men 10-26-2013 10:34 PM

ragedogg69 10-28-2013 02:04 PM

I just like the fact that Eminem is finally getting away from him yelling his lines. Ever since the Eminem Show, most of his songs have him yelling over beats. I prefer his more melodic early stuff. Sounds like his next will be more in tune with her early stuff.

Read in my Rolling Stone this week that he was still messing with the album weeks before release and that is unheard of in the music industry.

Em ft Rihanna - "The Monster"....

http://www60.zippyshare.com/v/16028365/file.html

So so disappointing. Em is indeed still not back.

Just another dumb downed, radio friendly piece of garbage aimed at teenage girls. Em's verses were shit, beat is horrible, Rihanna's hook is just like every other Rihanna mainstream hook....Just terrible.

It's not a rap song, its a pop song. Eminem is mostly a pop artist now a days. So much hope is just lost now. This and Survival are just terrible songs.

Just started listening. Off to a very good start with Bad Guy.

And I completely agree too many of his songs have him yelling over a beat. Hopefully the rest of the songs on this album are as good as Bad Guy.

It's sad how Eminem's latest washed-up pop garbage gets all the hype and the new Deltron 3030 album dropped last month with no fanfare whatsoever. Mainstream hip-hop really is dead.

It wasn't as good as the original for sure, but there were some gems on there. I like how "The Return" was a sequel of sorts to "3030" from the first album, and I like "Do You Remember." Del's flow on Event 2 is kind of weird, though - it's more monotone and relaxed than the first album.

I hate that ****ing song on the Black Ops commercial. I'm 50/50 on the beastie boys sample, Rap God was awesome....and this song has a catchy hook, i just wish he removed the middle of the song when he goes all "stan" on us. I like the way it starts and I like the way it ends.

The album has sparked my curiosity at least.

On a side note, for whatever reason, when i was a kid i thought that Eminem was a Chiefs fan.

He made some Chiefs references back on his first album and i think that might be part of the reason i identified with his music.

This is icing on the cake.

Berzerk sucks
Monster garbage
Love Game ft Kenrick Lamar trash
Bad Guy not feeling it
Rap God solid

MrGiggity 11-01-2013 02:25 PM

Wasn't impressed with the singles but after hearing some other songs I will def be picking this up Tuesday. Anybody heard Brainless? Wordplay on that song is unreal. Legacy is very good too, kind of a haunting themed song IMO. Stronger Than I was is a track that is growing on me. I wish Eminem did more singing like this and Haile's Song. The man is very talented.
