How much are they gonna pay him?
13 a year? 14? |
:facepalm:
It's sad, but if we traded Flowers for that amount I would be OK. This trade excedes the Alex Smith trade in stupidity. |

Hold on.
Thats 16/yr Wow |
If the report about their being no guaranteed money in the deal is true, then I think both sides did well here. He only gets $16M if he plays, they can dump him at any time if need be.
Jets are going to have the ammo to move up, or take two great players in the first. Bucs have a CB that can help matchup against those monsters in Atlanta as well as Colston/Graham in NO. |
so it's not guaranteed? They still have to pay him 16 ****ing million dollars a year... it still counts against the cap... no contract is guaranteed in the NFL.

That's a move a team makes that has a chance to win a superbowl in the next 3 or 4 years.
I wouldn't put TB in that category. |

Guaranteed money is about a half of the total money. |

We paid $16M twice for Matt Cassel. At least Revis is one of the most talented players at his position. We paid that much for one of the worst. |

I hate the idea of this trade from a fan perspective and I could give 2 shits less about the Bucks, thing is this draft class is so weak it may not be bad deal.

That's a god awful trade for the Bucs. At least they can cut him after a few years when he proves he's clearly lost a step.
Maybe a team that can't defend the pass should invest in players that can rush the passer, since cornerbacks can't actually play pass defense now. Just a thought. |

If they really wanted him they could have waited until the year was over when he opted out then given him a large contract. They could use the #13 overall on a guy who can rush the passer, because outside of McCoy they have crap up front. Would have been a great landing spot for Jarvis Jones, actually. |

Giving up that much in picks on top of paying 16/yr is just silly. |
Ya I would have waited it out. Only the Bucs wanted him that we know of. Not many teams have the cap for him. Kind of like the Albert situation.
|
I haven't read the whole thread, and saying that we should keep an eye on this deal because the Jets may very well be vying for Geno . If KC is wants to trade down then Jets are good candidates for trade partners with two 1st round picks.
|
Would be a dream to get 9,13 for 1

Last I checked, TB was WAYYYY under the cap.
Was the Revis trade a move they had to do to get over the cap floor? Maybe they had to spend it, or pay the financial penalty of not doing so that is the equivalent of the amount needed to reach the cap floor....and that amount is split up to all players iirc. |
If the Jets want Geno just ask for 9 and next year's #1.
|
9 = 1350 points
13 = 1150 points 1= 3000 points Giving the Jets a 500 point discount would be fair compensation. |

This is a fantastic trade for the Jets.
They get 2 picks in the top 13 now and some cash to use in FA next year. One of the strengths in this draft is CB. They can easily get a good player for a cheaper price and younger talent. |
Meh, if I were the Jets GM I'd want the Bucs 1 next year.
|
Tavon Austin and Jarvis Jones would be a nice way to spend those draft dollars.

If we could swing a trade with NY and get those two with the picks, I'd be happy.
Sign Albert long term and if he wants traded, use the pick on Ogletree....I think he will drop out of the first and with a run of qbs in the second round, he could drop to the Dolphins second rounder. NY gets Geno Miami gets Albert Chiefs get Austin, Jones and Ogletree. I would be done being salty about the Alex Smith trade. |

The Jets aren't trading up for Geno. Their roster is a ****ing disaster and Rex Ryan is a dead man walking.
Also, his agent is god awful. 100 million extension and not a single dollar guaranteed. |

I think people are selling Tampa mighty short in that division.
They have a stud back, a great oline (when healthy), a much, much improved secondary (by far the best in the division), linebackers who can make plays. I honestly wouldn't be shocked to see them be better than Atlanta. I like Freeman probably more than most though. |
