Think he'd be a fine 3-4 end. Injuries are a concern, but at this point, he's a much better player than Jackson.

where's our resident giants fan to give us the poop on canty?
|
He's a good player who's had some injuries and certainly isn't worth the contract he signed with the Giants a few years ago at this point. As long as they sign him to a more reasonable deal in line with his current play, I'm fully on board. He's a fine starter at end and they pretty much need two of those.
|
Well according to Arrowhead Pride, we rolled out the red carpet for him. Sounds like we really want this guy.
He'd be a great get. |

Chris Canty - DL - Free Agent
The Titans made a contract offer to free agent DT Chris Canty during his visit, but he's "continuing to explore his options." Canty visited the Chiefs on Monday. Per USA Today's Mike Garafolo, Canty has no other scheduled visits "at this point." The fact that Canty is "continuing to explore his options" is a strong indication the Titans' offer was of the "team friendly" variety. Canty is still likely to have a new home by the end of the week. Related: Chiefs, Titans Source: Jim Wyatt on Twitter Feb 13 - 1:37 PM |

nice [nahys] Show IPA
adjective, nic·er, nic·est. 1. pleasing; agreeable; delightful: a nice visit. 2. amiably pleasant; kind: They are always nice to strangers. 3. characterized by, showing, or requiring great accuracy, precision, skill, tact, care, or delicacy: nice workmanship; a nice shot; a nice handling of a crisis. 4. showing or indicating very small differences; minutely accurate, as instruments: a job that requires nice measurements. 5. minute, fine, or subtle: a nice distinction. |
I hope we sign him. Dorsey and Jackson haven't done enough to warrant cementing them as starters.

Yes. No deal yet. RT @ChiefsOsFan: Did the Chiefs even make Chris a offer |
Good, lets get this done.
Ironic that we can get a player to be as good or better than what we've had WITHOUT taking him in the top 5 of the draft. |
This happens, Dorsey is gone.
Him and Jackson should be gone anyway. They need to attack with the d-line and not just occupy blockers. |

Chris Canty was on Charlotte sports radio (610) this morning. Said he's taking his time as UFA doesn't come along very often. Looking for best deal and wants to win a championship. Said QB was very important to him - was lobbying for Panthers to give him a shot. Didn't sound like he's in a rush to make a decision and based on the fact that KC has no QB, not too encouraging.
|
They show him enough coin he'll sign
|
enough coin?
do not overpay for a 30 year old d-lineman lol hes not going to get offers from any team with an established QB because its most likely teams with good QBs also have a good dline/pass rush depth |

The Chiefs may have a 34 DE that gets pressure in the passing game? BULLSHIT
|
Also, I will be so hard if we sign WillyMo! Talked to him quite a few times when I worked for Mizzou athletics/tickets. Cool dude.

Chris Canty might take hometown discount from Panthers, but they haven't called http://wp.me/p14QSB-7ivh Chris Canty has heard from Panthers players, but not GM Posted by Darin Gantt on February 16, 2013, 3:27 PM EST New York Giants v Dallas Cowboys Getty Images Former Giants defensive tackle Chris Canty has already visited with the Titans and the Chiefs, but the team he might like to play for hasn’t called yet. Canty, who was a high school star in Charlotte, said he’d love to have a chance to play there again. “I might be willing to do the hometown discount,” Canty said with a laugh, when asked by WFNZ’s The Mac Attack about joining the Panthers. “We have to see what other opportunities are out there.” Canty said that not long after he was released by the Giants, that Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis sent him a text saying “It’s time for you to come on home.” Of course, that’s not the same as interest from Panthers GM Dave Gettleman, who knows Canty well from his days in the Giants personnel department. While Canty might fit the Panthers from football and geographical means — and he insisted he thought they’d be competitive this year — that doesn’t mean he ends up there. Since the Panthers are in subtract-before-they-add mode, they’re going to have to peel some parts off the roster before Gettleman can bring Canty or anyone else in. |
Well, it's real nice for Canty to have numbers from KC and Tennessee to show the Panthers now. That slut.
|
According to reports, the Giants cut Canty because he was owed $6.5 million in 2013 and the team has to free up cap space.
Canty battled through injuries in 2012. He spent the first six games of the season on the PUP list after ACL surgery last February. According to Mike Garafolo, covering the NFL for USA Today after eight seasons covering the Giants for The Star Ledger, Canty avoided answering the question of whether he had micro fracture surgery in the offseason. He never seemed to come back after the surgery that troubled him all year. Also troubling, Canty suffered a sprained MCL against the Ravens in late December -- the injury is to the same knee that caused him to be placed on PUP at the start of the season. At 6'7" and 317 pounds, Canty is a huge space eater and important interior lineman. He has proven to be very versatile. He can play as a 4-3 DT or DE or 3-4 DE. While at Dallas, Canty played at right DE in the 3-4 defense. A healthy Canty can make a big difference on defense. The guy can flat out ball and was very disruptive in the middle. He was a big part of the Giants’ success in Super Bowl XLVI. Wish him the best when he is not playing against us. Quote:

Chris Canty set for visits with Packers and Jaguars
Posted by Josh Alper on February 22, 2013, 6:07 PM EST Getty Images Defensive lineman Chris Canty has gotten an offer from the Titans since his release from the Giants, but he’s not ready to stop looking for a new team to call his own. Mike Garafolo of USA Today reports that Canty will visit with the Packers and Jaguars after the combine comes to a close. The Packers had a lot of interest in Canty when he was a free agent after the 2008 season, but he wound up signing with the Giants instead of waiting on an offer from Green Bay. Things are working a bit differently this time, which might be an advantage of being able to look for jobs while those waiting for free agency have to refrain — publicly, at least — from exploring new opportunities. The Jaguars have defensive lineman Terrance Knighton and George Selvie heading toward free agency and need to do a better job at both rushing the passer and stopping the run next season. Canty can fit in a variety of roles up front and would likely play tackle for Jacksonville while filling an end spot if he wound up in Green Bay. Because General Manager Dave Gettleman worked for the Giants, there was some thought the Panthers would also be interested in Canty. As of now, though, we only know that he’s heard from Carolina players. |
Well crap...probably not going to get him now.
Sounds like we weren't able to sell him so he's going to keep shopping. I'm still hopeful that he changes his mind, but the delay isn't a good thing. |
Kansas City must be a huge shithole to outsiders
|
We are a boat without a rudder, right now.
Until this team gets a QB, why would it be a good place to go as a free agent? |
Quote:
so good luck selling that to any veteran free agent |

#Chiefs are still in the mix for Chris Canty even though he is making other trips. Process still may take some time. |
Whatever. He's not coming here or he'd be a Chief by now.
Sharrif Floyd, 2013! |
He's just taking a long look to see what all is out there. Probably still trying to get the Panthers interested.
