Finally caught up on all the episodes. This show is freaking Awesome.

I could tolerate waking up next to Keri every morning, Russian spy or not.
|
Wow, Keri getting spanked, gotta like that, right?

Nah, could have done without that. Last week gave a pretty good picture of what a miserable life most of these people must lead. Even the good guy of the story knows he's leveraging the hell out of an otherwise good person and make her whore herself out at the cost of her dignity and risk of her life. It's just a dark, seedy, shitty world all of them occupy. |
Talk about last episode below.
Spoiler!

And yeah, it would strain the show's credibility to expect us to believe that a guy that had become one of the heads of the KGB's blackest outfits doesn't realize that the secretary that was blowing him when someone told him that the codes had been changed (who showed interest in him completely out of nowhere) is the mole. It's either her or the guy that actually called off the op and that sure seems unlikely. The show's asking its audience to be pretty intelligent and would now be expecting us to be pretty stupid if we're to believe that he isn't onto this girl. She's dead or extracted within 2 weeks. |
Finally caught the episode. The whipping wasn't all that nice but I had to laugh at the 2 pump chump. Keri Russel is so hot there is no way I could beat her.
And yeah. The Russian dude has to know but I expect him to not want the beej train from the hot chick to end. You know that's the hottest thing he's had in 30 years. This is such a great show. I hope they don't hack it up by making the FBI figure out who his neighbor is too early. |
"Better. Luck. Next. Time"
I love this show. |
As a guy that grew up in the 80's.... Keri Russell in Guess jeans?

The violence I what shocks me. If this is indeed a somewhat true reflection of living a " spy" life, it was hell. Don't like the new handler. Time to kill that old fat crusty bitch.

This show ****ing rules. Finally caught up on the last 2 episodes. They're pulling out all the stops. It's going to be ****ing great!

This starts back up Wednesday.

Thought it was a pretty decent opener. Looking forward to all the plot turns and twists.

I really dig this show. I think they have set up some interesting things for the rest of the season.
Also, I think walking in on your parent's 69ing would be so much worse than just walking in on them having sex. |
Quote:
Quite. It was pretty funny in the context of a TV show, but it would be pretty horrid in real life. I think it will be an effective tool to add to the show, but damn, that sucks. The hilarious part was he was going to work on her after some other dude ****ed her. The episode on the whole was really good, I thought. They did a nice job of throwing haymakers without dramatically altering the plot line. I'm really damn excited this is back on again. |
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
My DVR ****ed up and didn't record the opener so I have to wait until next week to catch it. |

I don't know if you watch previews so I will throw this in a spoiler tab.

Man, can they find poignant, often forgotten 80s music for their ending montages or what?
Peter Gabriel's Here Comes the Flood, haven't heard that since it was cassette. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Ww9JS8dJ9fY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Talk about a snoozer. I think I'm out of this after the season. If there would be a season 3?
|
I have been looking for the first season. Its not on netflix, any other place? Or do I buy the DVD?
|
Interesting that their knock is Morse for ISI, or Pakistan's Intelligence Service.

I recorded all 3 just to be sure because I missed last week's that way too the times are messed up beating him up then wiping that dude's ass after he had to take a dump..then beating him down again was hilarious - you don't see that on network tee-vee! |

'It' moves just thinking about it. There is something to be said, whether it's conscious or not, about how she has the eyes of a Soviet loyalist on the show. Just a hint of hardness and anger, that flares when, say, her offspring decides to be friends with Jesus. Very subtle, very convincing. |
great show - KGB recruit chick getting pounded from behind on a Congressman's desk, talking to a Ronald Reagan portrait. ha ha
'The Americans' Season 2, episode 6: Sex, drugs and covert murder in 'Behind the Red Door' Of all "The Americans" episodes in this excellent Season 2, "Behind the Red Door" might best encapsulate the passion, fear and danger of espionage. It's hard to remember sometimes that these are people who have literally given up everything for a cause -- and that makes them some of the most fascinating and dangerous people on the planet. Even in this fictional version, it's fascinating to watch them try to change the world. http://zap2it.com/blogs/the_american...d_door-2014-04 |
KERI RUSSELL'S ASS.
|
Just saw this is on amazon prime instant video. Quit watching midway through the first season (liked the show, just too busy with work). Looks like it's time to play catch-up.

Surprised this show isn't getting more praise. The season finale was pretty fantastic and the season overall was good as well. I'm excited for next season.

I'm falling down a spiral, destination unknown A double-crossed messenger, all alone I can't get no connection, can't get through, where are you Well the night weighs heavy on his guilty mind This far from the borderline And when the hit man comes He knows damn well he has been cheated This show uses music like no other When the Bullet hits the Bone - has there been a more universally unambiguous tag to a song? GE's other big hit, what a ****ing underrated band <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Zf53Pg2AkdY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Look, I don't expect you to understand this, he was willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good.

This season is going to be good. I'm surprised they managed to keep Nina's character in the story line (happy about it though because that bitch is fine). |

OK, it's been a week and I don't think I've gone an hour yet without Only You going through my head.
This show has a preternatural ability to pick out the very best music of the period, almost makes me want to travel back to there. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/LIiyT67Sjbg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Best music moment since I commented on it last season. So who breaks down first, Phillip or Elizabeth?
|
Quote:
Elizabeth would kill Paige with her bare hands and fold her up in plastic if the mission called for it. She'd probably do the same to Phillip if need be. |
Quote:
I also think Phillip would kill her in a heartbeat if Elizabeth broaches the spy subject before he feels she is ready to at least have the conversation. |
Quote:
I see Elizabeth as a spy who happens to have kids. I see Phillip much more ambivalent in each camp inside the home, though he is resolutely a spy outside the home. |
Quote:
Both Phillip and Elizabeth are great spies. The question is when does the home life boil over and prevent them from being good spies (for me at least). Or when does Phillip decide to embrace the "easy American" life with his kids and defect. |
Just binge-watched from about ep 5 of season 2 to last week's episode. Holy crap a lot happened.
|
Quote:
Every week, this show manages to bring out strong emotion with me. It's amazing how long they can keep you focused on their roles as a 'typical suburban family' then blindside you again and again with what ruthless brutal spies they actually are. pedophilia, assassination, body dumps, and that's just how they deal with strangers. |
Nina Sergeevna is smoking hot.
Does she try to escape to the US after she is free or try to stay with Oleg when he comes back to Moscow? |
Another music choice knocked out of the park
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3DuCIGvsbMA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I'm starting to think that Keri is just TOO HOT to play a spy. Maybe if she was constantly a femme fatale on some far flung mission. But to pose her as blending in and forgettable is stretching credulity. I see her and all I can think is 'I'd remember that into my senility.' |
Martha gon die. I bet Elizabeth kills her to protect Philip.

Yeah, I don't think he is the one to kill her. Unless she somehow threatens Paige or Elizabeth.
|
If he fully reveals himself, which looks like is happening, I don't know how he leaves her in the know.
|
He trusts that she loves him enough not to say anything? I dunno. I feel like that's what he's going to do and someone else is going to kill her for him.
|
I think Phillip taking off his wig is a last ditch attempt to get Martha to trust him and settle down, because he knows if she doesn't they'll have to kill her.
