A twist. Interesting.

Buck 12-12-2012 11:19 PM

This is probably one of the best Relief Effort Concerts I've seen...Well, Kanye was dressed really weird...that threw me off.

Dylan 12-12-2012 11:19 PM

Great concert!

Michael Stipe & Chris Martin

Kanye came on I changed the channel. Next to zero interest in listening to the self proclaimed genius.

McCartney about to play :thumb:

Same. Guy doesn't inspire me at all.

alanm 12-12-2012 11:37 PM

Wow Helter Skelter.

Dylan 12-12-2012 11:40 PM

Paul McCartney and Nirvana

Easy 6 12-12-2012 11:42 PM

So this is all going to culminate with McCartney fronting Nirvana?

Easily the best benefit concert i can think of, many old geezers really showed they still have plenty in the tank.

chefsos 12-12-2012 11:44 PM

I had this show on two TV channels. One left it an hour ago for their own stupid programming, and the other just crapped out as "Helter Skelter" was beginning.

EDIT: Ah, never mind! Just found it on a third channel, which is kind of amazing considering I have basic, basic cable.

DaneMcCloud 12-12-2012 11:48 PM

Macca

DaneMcCloud 12-12-2012 11:49 PM

Rusty sounds great, as always. The whole band is killing it.

The audience in the front rows are around 50ish and they are still around 20 years younger than most of the performers onstage :D

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about this band. I've heard about Kurt Cobain - but that is it.

God damn, Alicia Keys is one fine beautiful woman.

Macca with Krist, Pat and Dave. I dug it.

Not as cool as Blackbird or Live And Let Die or any of Paul's performance, but cool.

Dylan 12-13-2012 12:18 AM

Alicia Keys grew in the Hell's Kitchen area in NYC - W. 45th St. between 8th & 9th Ave.

Great talent.

I'm surprised the performers did not stay for the finale...

All in all, I thought that was a pretty good show. It was put together on relatively short notice, and no one that I saw completely embarrassed themselves.

Watching the rebroadcast. As usual, The Who is kicking ****ing ass.

Zac Starkey (Ringo's son) is ****ing amazing. Kenny Jones was always a poor fit. Zac really nails Keith.

Gotta love Pino as well.

The song Sir Paul Mccartney played with Nirvana kicked major ****ing ass!

Can you imagine if they played this song when Michael Stipe came out.

How many people would donate all their moneys then go off themselves?

Its always cool to put that lineup onstage.

But they surely could've done a bit more, why bother otherwise?

Dane, are they just delaying the broadcasts to another time slot?

Check out the listings of international global feeds to North & South America, Asia, Europe, Africa & Australia - wow.

Lebanon? Lebanon is one of the safe havens for Abdullah Azzam Brigades, an organization affiliated with Al Qaeda - There are so many Al Qaeda groupings in Lebanon - They're going to donate?

Dylan, if you get directv rebroadcast coming up on channel 340.

My later classic rock favorites Bruce and Billy were great. Thought everybody was pretty good. Used to hate Kayne, don't anymore but that was a pretty awkward performance. Not really the crowd for him. I guess he was there more to bring in certain viewers. Not in love with McCartney's new stuff but Blackbird is/was awesome. Cool seeing Nirvana, even though they were big just slightly before I was old enough to appreciate them.

Seemed a slam dunk that Bruce, Bon Jovi, and Joel would step up during all of this but still cool that they have as enthusiastically as they have.

NJChiefsFan 12-13-2012 01:04 AM

340 doing it again tomorrow at 12:30

DaneMcCloud 12-13-2012 01:06 AM

My mother got offered tickets for $500. Probably nosebleeds. She is in love with Bon Jovi but that is a little pricey for her. Wonder what front row seats cost.

Yeah surprised that didn't happen. Chris Martin was good too. The crowd was down to sing along for sure. They did so strongly with Bruce, Bon Jovi, Joel, and even Chris Martin.

Hey Jude? It's one of my favorite Macca songs.

But a song about Julian Lennon really wasn't appropriate as a concert finale.

I agree & it sure the hell would have been cool doing it when they brought out all those people on stage with Paul. I almost thought that is what they were going to do.

NY1 News reported more than $30 million was raised from ticket sales - The seating capacity for concerts at MSG is 20,000 (could be wrong) - depending on location of the seats, tickets had to cost at least a couple of thousand per seat - which may explain why it was designed for an older crowd.

Tomorrow it is business as usual - L.A. Lakers @ N.Y. Knicks

Maybe that explains the "lame white crowd" for an audience. I mean the crowd acted less enthused as I expected it to be for a rock concert.
