Take the monorail to what used to be the Las Vegas Hilton, you can either enjoy the games in the best sportsbook in Vegas or go to Football Central in the old Barry Manilow theatre where they have every game on one giant screen and theatre seating.

find a sports book in a Strip Hotel. Place a bet or two on games, drink all day for free.

mikeyis4dcats. 08-20-2012 06:30 PM

And the Hilton was a nice hotel. We stayed there once for $45 a night because it's not a strip hotel.

Bloody Mary Sunday.

Perfect.

Shameless bump (and not to overtake cable's thread, which sounds ****ing tasty).

My girlfriend found some pretty good packages (hotel + airfare) today. All of these prices are per person.

CircusCircus - $308
Stratosphere - $420
Riviera - $429
Excalibur - $469
Luxor - $469
Flamingo - $490
Harrahs - $494
Monte Carlo - $536
Trump - $507
Tropicana - $433

Any of those places I should avoid like the plague based off of your guys' experiences?

mikeyis4dcats. 02-27-2013 09:38 PM

lol, pretty much all of them excpet harrah's imho. most are pretty dated. check the tripadvior review. so long as you know what you're getting into....

I haven't been in there, but the Tropicana was renovated recently.

I'd stay at Flamingo too. Them and Harrah's have the best location on his list.

By no means am I looking for something all glitzy and glamorous.

Just something convenient, well priced, no special fees and on the main strip.

Really looking into the Luxor, Tropicana and Excalibur currently.

Unfortunately it's not like that anymore, you now get drink tickets and sometimes not even that unless you ask.The last two properties that I know of that still does it are both off strip,The Hilton and The Rio.

I would stay away from Excalibur.

I'm in Vegas over Memorial Day weekend for a meeting about 1 mile off the strip. For the final night I booked a room @ Ballys for $57 after all taxes & fees. Mostly due to location and the fact that I won't be spending much time in the room.

I would not stay at the Statosphere, because it's a little too far away from the heart of the strip. I think the heart of the strip is Paris. Of the options, for pure location reasons, I would stay at Flamingo.

I've stayed at Monte Carlo, and I liked it. Good location, and a nice hotel.

Yes - Paris is centrally located. We stayed there for one of my friend's bachelor parties and the location was excellent.

Stratosphere is far, so I also wouldn't stay there, but I do recommend trekking out there because it was one of our favorite stops (the rides on the top, good sports book, and we had luck at the tables).

next to what was Imperial Palace. You can also stay at the Rio and shuttle for free to Harrahs.

Ceej 04-04-2013 04:17 PM

So, it appears as if we're going to be staying at Harrah's and flying through Allegiant. The stay will be Thursday-Monday.

Right now our to-do list consists of Bellagio fountains, Wax Museum, Goretorium, and drinking bloody Mary's all day Sunday while watching football.

If there are any CPers in or around Vegas I'd be more than happy to visit with you and share a beverage. Right now it'll be me, plus Ms. Jizzles, Mr. and Mrs. Plow. (here's looking at you lew!)

I don't feel like googling, but what are some must-dos in Vegas, that you guys have done. Is the Goretorium with it?

Last time I was in Vegas I stayed at Mandalay Bay and I kick myself in my own nuts for not visiting their aquarium.

Thanks!

Hoover Dam is a neat trip.

Spend some time downtown...

Just stayed at the Wynn. Everything was so top knotch I didn't want to leave the Resort.

TribalElder 04-04-2013 07:26 PM

Circus circus is a shithole

MGM, new York new York

No to Excalibur unless you like that day care feel

Free trams from Excalibur to Luxor to Mandalay bay. Free tram from monte Carlo to bellagio. Deuce pass is worth the few bucks. The monorail is cool but it's way behind the casinos. F that, ride the duece

I bundled air fare with MGM stay and got free tickets to ka. Cirque is the business. The resort fee is not the business. I booked through southwest online

Carlota69 04-04-2013 10:04 PM

We should make a What to do in Vegas thread and sticky it...
I feel like that question gets asked at least 3-4 times a year..lol

1) have a nice steak dinner at Hugo's Cellar inside 4Queens downtown. Best steak and deal in Vegas.

2) hangout downtown as well. Cheap drinks, lots of action.

3) Zipline downtown. Very cool.

4) Goretorium is kick ass. Enjoy.

5). Check out the rides at Stratosphere if you like thrill rides.

6). See Absinthe. Best show on the strip. Funny as all hell, and killer tricks and stunts.

And that's all I got right now. But without a doubt, get a steak at Hugo's. you won't regret it. And the Mrs will get a rosé. Great date night, old school Vegas dinner. :thumb:

Booking our trip to Las Vegas this evening through Allegiant. September 12-16.

We're staying at Harrah's.

~$400/person. Just a few weeks ago it was ~$340/person.

Damn us for waiting!

shit! I waited for my tix from allegiant too. They were $55 to Vegas and $65 back home and at the time I wasn't sure if my friends could go and now its confirmed I bought my tix at $110 each. Still can't complain, but would've saved a hell of a lot. I'll be headed down next week.

I fly out of Missoula, MT. Only an hour forty five minute flight. Didn't think it was ever possible for a direct flight to Vegas from where I live. At some points I have purchased a seat for $20 leaving Vegas. Totally lucked out those flights. Shitty part about it all is the flight leaves Vegas at 8am so I'd be up the entire night before I head to the airport at 6am.

Also if you always waited in line outside allegiant airs kiosk to check your bag and get your plane ticket in Vegas skip that shit and head inside. There are like 12 allegiant workers checking bags inside its seriously like a 10 minute wait in line as opposed to the hour I've waited standing outside as 2 employees check bags and get your tickets.

That's how you get them so cheap. Nice! We normally fly out of Wichita.

yea but you'll still need to wait in line to get your ticket! I know what you mean though. I waited in that line outside so many times. They make you wait out there for a good hour, granted its packed, and expect a tip. I would have people being called out of the line to skip ahead so they would make their flight on time. I just said **** that and tried inside the terminal and it was lightning fast. Seems like most people are oblivious to the 12 workers allegiant has inside. I was.

I remember flying into Vegas a couple or years back. McCarrarn is the name, methinks.

They've got those damn trams which lead to luggage. I am a real laid back guy. Of course when I was there one of them was down. Talk about a cluster**** with people pushing to get on the next tram. ****ing maddening.

I get to the luggage pickup like 25-30 mins later assuming the luggage had not got there yet. It sure had and I was the idiot looking at my own luggage for about 15 mins straight. What a mess.

shit. lol I did the same thing in Phoenix. It had the wrong flight number on our bags coming out and I thought I saw my bag but I brushed it off and was waiting over at the baggage claim that had our flight number on it. so you have the entire plane standing around for about 15 minutes kinda getting flustered as to whats taking so long and I go over to check the bag I thought was mine.

It was mine and grabbed it and started walking. Everyone was still standing on the other side not even seeing that I had picked my bag up. I still wonder how long they waited till they realized that their bags had been there the whole time. You see like 40 bags sitting on the conveyer belt and nobody around them to pick up and it seemed a bit odd.

We did a recent road trip with a stopover in Vegas. It was my wife and I and our two teen-aged sons. We stayed at Harrah's because we could get two double bed rooms for $30 each. It was the best deal I could find on the Strip. Even with the taxes and fees, the rooms came to < $60 each per night.

Harrah's is a good location too - pretty central. The rooms were nothing special - on par with a Holiday Inn Express - but were clean and a cheap place to sleep.

Ceej 05-06-2013 12:53 PM

Trip booked!

We weren't terribly concerned about how the room looked, as we don't plan on staying in the room often.

We liked the location of Harrah's.

Can't wait until September.

Yeah, just briefly looked while wasting time in a meeting, looks like it's Allegiant or driving. Have to see if they have any open seats when I'm booking, showed only 2 available seats today. Checked out other airlines and cheapest was $300+ round trip per person.

How'd you do that?

We booked today. Hotel, round trip airfare, shuttle to and from airport and one bag was ~$400/person.

So, a pretty good chance I might propose (not marry) to my girlfriend in Vegas.

Right now, I'm thinking of doing it on top of the Stratosphere.

Any other nice, affordable recommendations?

If she says no you'll never go back to Vegas again. Think carefully, man!

Prior to proposing I will say, "I'M ON A BOAT MOTHER****ER." Directly to her face.

no offense, but there are about 5000 more romantic places than the top of the Strat.

Go to the Butterfly House & Botanical Garden at Bellagio....

I bet if you approached the hotel, and made them aware of your intentions, they would make arrangements to provide you with celebratory champagne after the question is popped.
