I'm finished now. I though it was great - can't wait until the second season. If I have any complaints, it's: I still think it's trying to be a modern show in an old era. I keep expecting all the characters to walk out to a 1920s world. The modern setting + boss politics mix is a bit off to me. |

Great speech.
Amazon and Hulu are starting to create original series now as well. Amazon put like 8 pilots up at once a few months ago and asked viewers to vote on which ones they wanted to bring to series. Pretty cool idea. |
Goddamn it. I search for a release date for Season 2 and all I get is a bunch of bullshit conjecture.
I WANT IT NAO! |
I'm guessing around 2/1/14. I think that's a year after Season 1 aired.
|
Also what I like about this format of TV show is that you can watch it all in 4 days, and that means that by the time the next season rolls around it's been a whole year since you watched it and you're more likely to want to watch the whole season over again.

I'll probably go on a binge for a couple weekends before the next season drops so I can refresh my mind. |

Damnit. Guess I better stay out of this thread until I have seen a few eps. LMAO

Sorry for the confusion season one ep 11. I'll never get a car with a push button ignition. I find myself almost not wanting to see what's going to happen next in some scenes. Unless of course it involves partially nekkid hotties.

WTF

House of Cards Season 2 drinking game: (Note: haven't watched yet so these suggestions might be totally wrong)
1 sip per F-bomb, or for any Apple, Sony or pork-related product placement, or Stamper making a phone call 1 drink every time ANY character interacts with Remi OR every time Zoe publishes something on Slugline OR Claire mentions the CWI by name 2 drinks every time you see bare buttocks or a woman's breasts Start and continue drinking every time Frank breaks the fourth wall and talks to the audience OR every time the "intrigue" musical cue plays Finish your drink: - for any product placement that was not mentioned above - Frank makes a reference to being from South Carolina - Peter Russo is mentioned |
Holy shit. That first episode (of season 2) was amazing.

Episode 1 was f'ing crazy. Guess that explains a certain character's quotes about having to watch the season to find out what happens.
|
how long is the first ep?

Edit: Netflix says 49 including credits. |
Holy shit. TV sure makes me root for some despicable characters. Frank is in beast mode

I am 5 episodes in will surely take in more tomorrow. Love this show though.

Does anybody else get really freaked out by the dialog between Frank and Claire or Frank and any of the other politicians?
It feels like no one is ever communicating with any sincerity. No one ever stops playing the game. Conversations between Frank and the president are completely vacuous (not that surprising, I guess, but they are SO dedicated to the facade). But, Frank and Claire really freak me out. They are political with eachother 100% of the time. It gives me the creeps, man. Edit: and Episode 1 of season 2 destroyed my entire world. |

What's etiquette for this series on spoilers. The usual in the media center is if its broadcast its fair game. But, this is released all at once.
Do we put everything in spoilers? Wait say .... two weeks then post non spoilers? Or just expect everyone to stay out until they see the whole series and talk openly? What say you? |

Hell, day one you could spoil the season end... |

I can't really explain it, but I get SO uncomfortable when I watch the show. I feel like I am witnessing true psychosis.. not the generic depiction of psychopaths we're all kind of used to seeing on tv/movies where everything is spelled out for you. It's genius, really. I can't get enough of it. |

Episode 10, and I still hate one thing I've always hated about this show:
They portray the President as someone that isn't very ruthless, and I don't find that believable. He didn't get to be President by being nice. |
Quote:
You see a hell of a lot of mutual respect in their relationship... Romance? not so much. One or the other had an affair? Meh, whatever. Let's just work together to keep that shit quiet. |
Quote:
They are both shadow people. Claire has shown a few glimpses of humanity (exploring the idea of having children, briefly. Showing some vulnerability over the experience of her freshman year in college, etc). But, on the whole, she is an empty vessel. Frank and Claire's relationship is not human. They don't keep secrets from one another, but the don't confide in one another. Their words are measured and calculated. They are androids communicating with one another. |
Still disagree re: their relationship. Watch the whole season and then tell me if you still feel that way.
Finished the last episode tonight. A bit of a letdown, because I found it to be too predictable, but I cannot WAIT for next season. Gonna be a shitshow! |
Just got done watching season 2, all I could say is WOW! Cannot wait for season 3.
