so useless Ricky Stanzi and pudgeball noodle arm Chase Daniel are going to beat him out

Tyler Bray could crash a jet ski during training camp and his arm alone would still out gun Stanzi and Daniel's 5 yard dunks

Just going off what Reid has already said in talking to the press.

Bray hasnt even thrown a pass yet and Andy already said "exceptional arm with a 10 cent head" essentially.

Yeah he needs work, but you dont see Andy Reid coming out and complimenting Alex Smith, Chase Daniel or Ricky Stanzi's arm strength do you

Dorseid outbid the Dolphins, and maybe others, to get Bray in here. They arent going to sign him to a 3 year contract and put him on the practice squad where one of those other teams can come in and pick him up.

Stanzi is Scooter's boy...Bray will be the #3 this year...he wont be on the practice squad.

GordonGekko 04-30-2013 06:03 PM

One cannot help buy dry heave for a minute or two when looking at that roster. I just don't see where the points are going to come, Charles for some reason doesn't get into the end zone and DBow is our only receiving threat.

Direckshun 04-30-2013 07:03 PM

Yeah, the more I look at it, the more this looks like a 6-10 team.

So no "really hard not to like Alex Smith?" threads?

Nightfyre 04-30-2013 08:41 PM

I think Alex Smith is gonna suck in Reid's offense. Reid runs a progression that goes from deep to shallow. Alex Smith will have to go through two to three reads before he gets the ball away, simply due to his inability to hit the intermediate and deep routes with authority - which will result in him taking even more sacks than he used to.

mcaj22 04-30-2013 09:07 PM

we have to have the worse NT/DE combo in the league

we literally have the "potential" of Dontari Poe because of his out of the world measurable than absolutely unproductive dog shit after that

there is no other 34 team this bad with d-line. It's going to kill us every time good teams drop back to pass

With the scheme change I think there will be cavernous holes against the run.

Chiefshrink 04-30-2013 09:18 PM

I thought Lilja came out of retirement at the request of Reid ?

BossChief 04-30-2013 10:01 PM

Our only hope on defense is that the switch to a 1 gap, attacking alignment fits the talent we have better than the 2 gap read and react d we have been running with the exception of a stretch of games in 2011 and another stretch last year.

I am actually excited to see this defense coming into it's own with Houston and Hali rushing the passer on most downs instead of dropping into coverage...I can see Houston having a 15+ sack season.

It all hinges on a few factors...

Smith/Robinson holding up in coverage
The DL being able to create some push
Someone emerging as the starting safety opposite Berry
The offense being able to sustain drives enough to give the defense time to stay fresh and make adjustments

Those things work out well for us, we might be in for some fun.

Typically, 8 - 9 DBs are kept. I kept 9. A few of my CBs and Safeties can play either position. As far as the WRs, 6 is a good number. Who knows what Baldwin will do. McCluster and Wylie have been injured. Hemmingway is unproven. They will probably need all 6. They may need to add another WR and send Hemmingway back to the PS. I don't know about Jones or Zombo, but Catapano could also be a DE.

At this point he's proven as much as Baldwin.

I think having a competent QB will make Baldwin more competent. I really don't think we had any clue what we had with most of our receivers, since Cassel was SOOO bad.

Stupid to move Albert inside.

1. He will never play there and remain happy. Therefore, he will never sign a contract. The Chiefs get nothing for him.
2. You play him at LT and hope he plays his ass off so he can get a trade and sign deal and get paid like he wants. Then you trade him in the office season for a 2nd round pick.

I think the dynamics here are changing. You cannot deny that the Bray signing will have a huge impact on what ultimately happens. They will be watching how Albert behaves with the change of scenery. It is in his best interest to play exceedingly well and not go through the motions. Anything less will cost him millions. Winning can really change attitudes. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chiefs look for major upgrades at WR - certainly a very high priority next year. Another 2nd round pick makes that necessary given the lackluster WR pool this year. Their might be a run on receivers high in next years draft.

Alex Smith has never been good at distribution to more than one WR. His production is directly to the WR1, TE and HB and sometimes the slot.

The WR2 has been abused his whole career. Even in his "best" years under that god Harbaugh that many like to promote.

Easy 6 05-01-2013 10:20 AM

Cant say i'm overwhelmed with this receiver group at all, Avery should be a nice get, but it still looks like somethings missing.

There still isnt a lot of big play potential there imo, it'd be nice if Wylie decided to stay healthy and take a step up this year, he has the speed to help.

Direckshun 05-01-2013 10:45 AM

Roster just got even shittier

The Franchise 05-01-2013 11:58 AM

Just to put it in perspective.....

We now have the same number of FBs as we do CBs on this roster.

mcaj22 05-01-2013 11:59 AM

for you people thinking Dunta was playing FS you can throw that right out the window now that the nickel CB position just became vacant

prepare to watch him get burned/beat like a drum all year

Frosty 05-01-2013 11:59 AM

So, are they counting on Gilyard as the returner? With Arenas gone, I don't really see anyone that is obviously a returner on the roster unless one of the UDFA can do it. I doubt they are counting on Fumbles McCluster.

Shox 05-01-2013 12:19 PM

We got a FULLBACK? I'm really beginning to question these guys. I was never impressed with Reid drafts or personnel moves. This is very disturbing.

Because big Andy is going to use his FB and he doesn't want to settle on just a guy? We're going to go up against teams that have designed their D to stop the spread passing attacks and were going to beat the hell out of'em. Maul'em till it hurts.

He sure looked fast, though. Now that we have a backup fullback who excels at special teams, maybe he'll catch more creases to run through.

DEs, CBs, and safeties are absolute dog shit besides 2 players

they better find people to at least challenge turds like Jalil Brown and Dequan Menzie for roster spots at the 4th and 5th CB spot instead of just gifting it to them. god forbid either of them have to see the field this season we are ****ed

The fullback glut for the #Chiefs is about to ease a little. Patrick DiMarco, last year's starter, will be released later today

TrebMaxx 05-02-2013 01:30 PM

I kind of liked DiMarco last year. He did get some good blocks in and seemed solid from that standpoint.

#Chiefs now down to 4 QBs after Tanney's release.

philfree 05-02-2013 01:58 PM

I always thought it was interesting to watch what happened to players we cut. There was a very long time there that whenever we dropped a defensive player, his career would essentially be done.

Dante84 05-03-2013 07:43 AM

Given that KC has nobody who can provide a consistent pass rush from the 3 tech, I'd love to see Seymour signed.

You're going to see a more constant pass rush from the DE simply based on scheme change alone. Bailey should be markedly better in this system than the five tech, two gap system employed by Crennel.

I think the combination of this, another year of Poe maturing, and having Nico as the thumper in the middle and both our pass rush (Hali/Houston) and our run defense will improve.

The 2014 third-round pick the Chiefs owe the 49ers as part of the Alex Smith trade will become a second-rounder if the Chiefs finish 8-8 or better.
