Also, effectively means unless KC drafts Geno Smith 1.1 he will not be a Chief. Same for Barkley, Glennon, Nassib, Wilson, Bray.

Buddah I'm sure you said the same about Pioli and Cassel too.

In Pioli we trust

Yeah if you give up two 2nd rounders for Alex Smith. He's our QB for the next few years.

No QB in the draft this year.

@SI_JimTrotter: the reported compensation for alex smith is a second-rounder this year and a similar pick next year.

ShowtimeSBMVP 02-27-2013 11:22 AM

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter

Chiefs will trade second-round pick this year - the top pick in second round - as well as another conditional mid-round pick in 2014.

The 2nd rounder shit makes sense.

It's no wonder there wasn't any competition for Alex Smith. No other team is that ****ing stupid.

For the 34th pick in the draft on February 28th.

Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

you want to see how this plays out? watch the chiefs starting in about year 2009. traded a second round pick and threw a bunch of money at an average quarterback. 10-6 first round bounce out of the playoffs is the ceiling, and in 2017 we have the number one draft pick, a new front office and head coach again. this won't end well.

If it makes you feel any better, Jaguars will probably pick up Matt Cassel.

beer bacon 02-27-2013 11:30 AM

The Chiefs are not winning a Super Bowl with Alex Smith. You take a first round caliber QB, and there are several in this draft, and you pray he is a franchise QB. You keep doing this until you get a franchise QB. That is the only way you win a Super Bowl. You don't win Super Bowls by doing what KC has done for the last 30 years. We are still following the blueprint for going 10-6 and getting bounced early in the playoffs.

gblowfish 02-27-2013 11:30 AM

I proudly proclaim the first official Chiefs Nickname for Alex Smith:
"Elvis Bono."

Or, if you don't like that one, how bout:

"Alex Casshole V.2"
