It's gonna be Geno.

In all seriousness, it could've been Geno if we had a 2nd round pick. With that pick gone I'm guessing Reid/Dorsey feel that it would be dumb to pick a QB at 1 then have to wait a couple more rounds to pick another player from an already weak draft. JMO.

I think most intelligent people feel that way.

BossChief 04-10-2013 08:08 PM

If we take Geno at 1, we would still have 3 picks in the top 100 to work with.

Thats plenty of ammo to fill the remaining holes for the 2013 season.

No reason not to draft Geno.

Now, does that mean they WILL draft him? No, it doesn't...but it DOES show that their comments in front of cameras and behind closed doors may well be genuine.

Cannibal 04-10-2013 08:14 PM

You keep saying this shit, but the fact is; we already had our collective meltdown with the Smith trade. Im sticking with the team regardless of who they pick, and if Smithy falls short, I know for a stone-cold FACT that he wont be long for this roster. He will be benched and eventually cut. That's how Dorseid work. Period. Now; kindly go fist your dog or cat.

I do agree that Alex Smith will be benched if he can't produce. This is not a Matt Cassel/Scott Pioli situation.

There was actually TWO meltdowns. This third one on draft day when you take a Left Tackle, is going to be the cherry on top.

I bet if you ran 2 polls...

1. being a "who do you think will actually be the pick"

and

2. "who would you prefer the chiefs to pick"

Both would be 90% or greater with Joeckel and Geno as the dominant selections.

Sweet Daddy Hate 04-10-2013 09:31 PM

I think Jordan will be the pick. I hope Geno will be the pick. I'll take Mingo or Milliner as booby prizes.

Vegas usually knows best and there are sportsbooks that if you bet that Joeckel will be the top pick, you have to bet 3 dollars to win 1.

If you want to bet on KC taking anyone but Joeckel, you win 2.50 on a 1 dollar bet if you're right.

The Jets don't need a QB. In 2009, the year that the Chiefs were supposed to draft their QB savior with the #3 overall pick, they passed on him. That God of the NFL, the QB who got away from the Chiefs and is now dominating the NFL after being passed on by KC and getting drafted lower in the round, is none other than Mark Sanchez, the starting QB for the New York Jets.

That's why the Chiefs absolutely must take Geno Smith this season. They simply can't afford to pass up on the next Mark Sanchez.

There's a difference between wanting to take a QB and berating everyone who might disagree with the notion, you asshat. The so-called "true fans" on this site were right, and all you dipshits who screamed about taking the QB, and only the QB, were wrong.

jd1020 04-11-2013 09:51 AM

What is everyone's reasoning for a team yet to trade up to #1?

I really want to know.

If someone wanted to trade up it would have been done by now. Redskins made their move for RG3 like a month ago last year.

Beef Supreme 04-11-2013 10:02 AM

If nobody wants to trade up for Geno before the draft, it's could be because they don't believe we will take him. So I say call their bluff and take him, then see what happens. Then we either get trade offers, or we keep him. I could live with either.

So Snatchz failed in the long run in NYC...so ****ing what? My point still stands and is one hundred times more valid than hoping to mine gold in rounds three through seven. This is going to be a FUN year for Mr. Brady. His prime target is gone and he's clearly on the downslope. Can't wait!

It's good news for the Chiefs if Geno Smith goes 1.1 no matter who takes him. I'd be less surprised if he dropped to the 2nd half of the first round though. Most likely, he'll be drafted between 1.2 and 1.13.

Your point doesn't stand, you moron, because you don't draft a QB high in the first round just for the sake of drafting a QB. Also, Brady's still at the top of the QB mountain, along with Rodgers. But, look on the bright side. At least your team has Alex Smith under center, and a coach who checked out about 5 years ago calling the shots. That's much better than having to follow the Patriots and worrying about whether they'll be in the AFCCG or SB pretty much every year. :thumb:

Dumbass.

You'll have to excuse me if I don't take QB advice from a fan of a team who fell ass over tea kettle into their Super Bowl QB.

And don't tell me again about how you all "saw it coming." If I wanted to be bullshitted, I'd drive to St. Louis and ask some Rams fans about how they all saw Kurt Warner coming. Shockingly, I don't think there are any Rams fans dumb enough to lie about that sort of thing, though.

If they think Smith is the player, they should draft him. If they don't think he's the guy, they shouldn't. It's that simple, and a bunch of people on a message board posting "GENO!!" doesn't somehow change that equation. It just makes those posters look like idiots, again, because they didn't learn the clear and obvious lesson from the Mark Sanchez draft.

You'll have to excuse me if I note that the team had scouted Brady and drafted him, that it kept him as a 4th QB, and that it kept him in as the starter despite having a $100 million dollar QB in front of him before injury. The argument that they got lucky is stupid. Every pick in the draft is an educated guess, and every pick except #1 overall is a product of what teams in front do with their picks.

It's the second longest run of elite play in the Super Bowl era, and they've been to the SB in about half of Brady's starting seasons, so I don't really worry about it being a "Geritol phase". I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

I thought the Chiefs would go for Raji, not Jackson, but the team blowing the pick on one guy doesn't justify blowing the pick on another.

So, can we now agree there is no such thing as a "Patriot Way"?

You'll have to excuse me if I note that the team had scouted Brady and drafted him, that it kept him as a 4th QB, and that it kept him in as the starter despite having a $100 million dollar QB in front of him before injury. The argument that they got lucky is stupid. Every pick in the draft is an educated guess, and every pick except #1 overall is a product of what teams in front do with their picks.

Ya you had a guy that would have quit if they didn't pick him. So it wasn't an easy: Well Brady is still here let's take him.

They haven't passed up every draft pick and walked away, either. Would you recommend that just because it's change? Of course not.

Look at the hot garbage backing Alex Smith up. You can't win or have a future with that group of clowns. You HAVE to get a realistic backup to AS, why not take the best QB on the board?
